Joey Barton comes to mind, although he's had one game according to Wikipedia (although I don't think that includes friendlies). That's his own doing though I think due to his behaviour.

Robbie Fowler hasn't had much of an England career either.

And then there's me, I've never played for England.

Unfortunately he's playing during the 'Golden generation' and therefore cannot get a chance at playing for England. Such are the excellent world class players selected by the managers :D

As a Man. Utd fan i would say Steve Bruce, he was immense for United in the late 80's and early 90's and he played a major role in United winning there first league title in 26 years and he formed a great defensive partnership with Gary Palister and Peter Schmeichel in goal.

Howard Kendall has often been seen as the best English player not to win a cap. Steve Bruce is a decent shout above. Of the current lot I think Leon Osman has been very unlucky to be overlooked.

I remember Ian St John did a spoof interview on Radio City prior to the 1990 World Cup with Bobby Robson as special guest...it was someone impersonating Sir Bobby and he said Case was under serious consideration for his midfield...

It's quite incredible none of those played, another bug bear of mine is Paul Davis also who was a fine anchor for us.

Matt Jansen would've been a fine player had he not had his accident. I don't agree with your other 3 but I guess the way caps are given out these days......

I agree with Leon Osman and I heard that about Howard Kendall.

A lot of the other names mentioned are excellent players who just suffered from a lot of competition in their position, or "tried and trusted" failures who have been irreplaceable over time.
