My school has the ignominious claim that Ian Brady attended it. Anyone else here have famous ex-pupils from their school?

Nobody from my school became famous even though many were infamous.

Justin and John Fashanu (was in the same form group with John all through secondary school). Maybe not overly famous, certainly not in the Brady sense, but well known enough I guess.

Judy Parfitt, who played Sister Monica Joan in 'Call the Midwife'. We had a Sister Monica at our school as well.

Many years after I left, World Superbike champion, accomplished musician and all-round "good egg" (and now Mr Katie Melua), James Toseland went to my old comprehensive. His granny was in the WI with my late Mum. Oh and one of the pro dancers off the first few series of Strictly went there too.

Someone from Hollyoaks did apparently. Can't remember his name though - he's a few years younger than me and by all accounts he's a bit of a heartthrob.

Only two I know of, Alan Carr was in the same year as my brother and knew him. Also Michael Underwood from CITV went to the same school

Although the school has since been knocked down and rebuilt as a academy

Someone out of Franz Ferdinand. That's all I know of and he wasn't even in my year! There was a guy who was in the papers for pretending to be a teenager and attending the school but he was actually in his 30's, he would have been in my year but I'd changed school by then.

A quick Google says Ernest Marples MP and Fred Perry. The grammar school was scrapped whilst I was attending, and relocated in a new building 3 miles away under the guise of a Senior Comprehensive. The original site is now a primary school and most of the playing fields have become an housing estate, the remainder have been tarmaced.

    Nope.

I could scrape the barrel and mention that a boy in my year left to go to Lilleshall during the 3rd year and came on as a substitute during a televised England schoolboys match.

Kim Cattrall went to my school.

Oddly enough, she later claimed that although she was born in Liverpool she grew up in Canada and even when she participated in that telly show about her family tree they still obfuscated the part about her childhood.

I'm thinking she has, perhaps, indulged in some "retcon" about her childhood, perhaps as a means to make it easier to get her Equity card?

    *EDIT*
Also, Keith Harris went to the same school I did.

The weight of historical significance is a heavy burden to bear. :o
