Isn't calling your child a hideous name like that some form of abuse? ;)

    Wayne or Duane.

Bertha, Ingrid, Shanisqua...there's more awful names for girls than boys, but also loads more nice names to choose from for a girl.

I doubt I'd be able to keep a straight face if a potential suitor introduced themselves as Tarquin.

Wasn't he an otter in a kids' story?

The posh Fourmiles had a baby called Tarquin in George & Mildred ;)

It is just such a dated name!!

I was only just thinking if anyone had said Wendy... are there actually any Wendys under 50 out there???:)

Elsie is also a name you don't really hear any more thank God! :p

Kayleigh is a nasty name... only popular thanks to a song.

Guaranteed to grow up dancing in stilettos in the snow ;)

Doesn't matter to me. I once went out with someone and didn't even know their name.

I think one associates names you dislike with the people you have encountered that you dislike. For years I couldn't bear the name Jenny because of a girl at school who just made me shudder. But then I met a man who had a daughter called Jenny and she is a joy so my view of the name has changed and i think its sweet and pretty now.

I tend not to like the names that you hear being shrieked by a chubby woman wearing 8 rings and tracksuit bottoms in Birkenhead. That would be Rhiannon, Kayleigh, Kyle, Chardonnay etc
