Where can I buy really cheap t-shirts?

I'm looking to buy about 30 adult-size t-shirts to use as art aprons for a children's group. We had to bin our old aprons, and the replacements we have been offered are too expensive. In my experience, using large t-shirts is just as effective and much cheaper.

Basically I don't want to pay more than £1 per t-shirt. Is it possible to find this either online or on the high street? Quality isn't really important providing they're washable, as they are going to get wrecked every time we do art anyway.

Failing this I will ask the children to bring in old clothing from home, but I'd prefer to buy a set of 30 identical t-shirts.

Thinking back to my youth (so a long way back) we all just wore one of 'Dad's' old shirts for art class.

Half of us looked like paint covered orangutans - but it did the job (kept paint of your proper clothes). I guess these days it would be called recycling - we just called it common sense.

On ebay you can find very cheap 'fruit of the loom' t-shirts. They are good quality too, and come in many colours. I got a few recently for about £1.70 each.

Im sure if you contacted a few of the sellers on ebay they might be able to do you a bulk discount, its worth a go. I remember having to bring one of dads old t-shirts in for painting

Have you got any "factory shops" near you - might be worth a try for Fruit of the Loom etc. For example:

I've used polo-shirts.co.uk several times and they've been fine. Last time I bought some of these and they seem to be of decent quality, but Fruit of the Loom is OK too. You might want to have a look around the site and see what's cheapest.

Before you buy them OP check the size of the neck. Depending on the size of the kids and the size of the neck hole a lot of the child can still end up unprotected buy an adult sized t-shirt.
