Jim Brannigan: Kilkelly, Ireland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N76kAivCb20
(a song about Irish emigration to the USA in the mid 1800s after the famine, based on real letters)
This one always reminds me of my daughter growing up, her daughter is now nearly 18 and has a little girl of her own. A song which every Mother with a daughter can relate to.
I thought this was a very touching moment in the movie, some little moments really get to me like when Donna says "That funny.. litte girl" half laughing and half crying
Beautiful song
So many beautiful songs, thank you.. I have dozens more, too many to mention.
This song became a kind of obsession after losing my beautiful daughter to cancer.
I didn't ever want to let my other 3 children out of my sight again.
Great strength comes to us at the most unexpected times.
Will Young - Leave Right Now - it came out around about the time when my grandad was dying in hospital so it always brings a tear to my eye whenever I hear it.
God only knows by the beach boys has me in tears every time I hear it.
Another beach boys one which had me in floods of tears was sloop john b. Day of my gradads funeral. As soon as it mentioned " my grandfather and me" I was off
Nessun Dorma - when the BBC used this for the World Cup theme in 1990, my Nan loved it. I bought her the single of it and when she died the following year it was played at her funeral. From that day to this I have not been able to hear that song, I have to walk out of the room or turn it off.
Abide with Me. Played at my dad's funeral, can't listen to it, have to mute the sound when it's sung before the Cup Final. And I still cry 'cause I know what they are singing.

If I was ever an actress and was required to weep, if someone off stage quietly hummed the tune I'd be in floods of tears immediately.
Others are Jerusalem, the Lord's My Shepherd, Scarboro' Fair - which if there is a power cut makes me feel brave yet sad when I sing it...........

Broken Things
Four spring to mind for me, I got married in August last year, the songs used for individual walk down the aisle get me everytime time:
My walk down the aisle:
Dancing in the Moonlight - Piano cover

His walk down the aisle:
John Legend - All of Me

Our walk up the aisle together
Rob Thomas - Little Wonders

Those last two songs I can't even listen to now as they make me wail.
I am not normally one for covers especially by a manufactured pop band but for some reason this always gets to me:
