EastEnders: Lacey Turner, Linda Henry, Lindsey Coulson, Jessie Wallace (more so in Kat's first stint), Steve McFadden, Jake Wood, June Brown, Pam St. Clement, Anita Dobson
Others: Katherine Kelly (though I hated her character), Sarah Lancashire, Alison King, David Neilson, Claire King (not so good nowadays but she was amazing as Kim), Pat Phoenix, Anna Friel
Can't believe we are on the third page now and NOBODY has mentioned Antony Cotton!!!
I'd like to throw a vote the way of Paula Lane. Kylie was pretty much destroyed towards her exit but there has been some fantastic acting during Paula's time on Corrie. I hope she's given a chance to shine when she comes back from maternity leave.
Didn't see a mention for Tracy-Ann Oberman unless I've missed it. Thought her Chrissie Watts was fantastic. I also think Diane Parish is fantastic as Denise and massively overlooekd a lot of the time.
EastEnders:
Anita Dobson
Pam St. Clement
Lacey Turner
Charlie Brooks
Linda Henry
Timothy West
Steve McFadden
Martin Kemp
Tracy Ann Oberman
Lindsey Coulson
Samantha Womack
Coronation Street:
Sarah Lancashire
Suranne Jones
Katherine Kelly
Alison King
Chris Gascoyne
Jane Danson
Stephanie Cole
Maggie Jones
Eastenders
Linda Henry (SO underrated and can out-act the entire EE cast combined when called for)
Steve McFadden
Steve John Shepherd
Adam Woodyatt
Charlie Brooks
Lindsay Coulson (one of the top three best out of any soap star, male or female, in my opinion)
Nadia Wadia (underrated actress)
Lacey Turner
Jessie Wallace (particularly in Kat's original stint on the Square)
Jake Wood (only given the right material)
Samantha Womack (again, given the right material)
Kellie Bright (may be too early to tell, but she's been AMAZING with this rape storyline)
Coronation Street
Katherine Kelly (mind you, she's great in pretty much everything she does)
Alison King (one of Corrie's all-time best actresses)
Suranne Jones
Sarah Lancashire
Stephanie Cole (one of Britain's greatest actresses)
Maggie Jones (soap comedy legend)
Chris Gascoyne
David Neilsen (hugely underrated)
Julie Hesmondhalgh (again, hugely underrated)
Emmerdale
Emma Atkins
Nicola Wheeler
Zoe Henry (HUGELY underrated; proved what a good actress she is with Rhona's drugs storyline)
Jeff Hordley
Danny Miller (when he's given the right material)
Claire King
Jane Cox (another one that doesn't get the recognition they deserve)
Special mention also to Sue Johnstone who, in my opinion, gave one of the best acting performances in British television when her character whose name I can't remember got raped in Brookside.
The first two names that came to mind were Sarah Lancashire and Jessie Wallace, seeing as Sarah is already getting a lot of love, and deservedly so I'll go with Jessie.
Kat Slater 2000-2005 is, in my opinion, the greatest all time Eastenders performance. A fascinating character of many colours and textures portrayed brilliantly and with real panache. Jessie's acting in the Kat/Zoe story in particular is some of Eastenders finest.
She was also excellent in the Marie Lloyd biopic, exquisite as Pat Phoenix in "The Road to Coronation Street" (and deservedly BAFTA nominated) and magnificent in "Fings Ain't Wot they Used T'Be" proving she can excel at musical theatre too.
A very talented and charismatic actor sadly wasting her career on what has become a minor part on Eastenders.
Sue Johnston, Anna Friel, Lindsey Coulson, Steve John Shepherd, David Nielson and Katherine Kelly and Suranne Jones are all really brilliant too. It's really hard to single out just one.
Timothy West too of course, but I don't really count him as a soap actor.

That is exactly who I was going to vote for, but I thought it was a bit too long ago since she appeared for people to remember her so quickly IYSWIM?
This. Totally agree.

Both he and Naomi Watts were in H&A for less than a month. I don't think they count.

Best Soap Actor or Actress EVER?
Rather than list your favourites ;-)

Also, Lindsay Coulson, Lacey Turner, Charlie Brooks, Sam Womack and Linda Henry.
I don't watch Corrie but I LOVE Sarah Lancashire in everything else she's been in so i'm assuming she was pretty good in Corrie too!
Rosie Marcel and Guy Henry would get my votes
Yes i did nearly say Guy Henry.
George Irving would need to be in the running as well. And of course Brenda Fricker if we're including Casualty.
Is this under your own terms and conditions?
Pat Phoenix
Emmett Scanlan
Emmett J. Scanlan
I was thinking the same....especially when you thing of some of the past actor/[actresses it makes nonsense of this thread...
Biased much, there is more soaps than Corrie and you can't say they had all the best ever actors to ever grace soapland. It's a joke answer yours is
