*The Official 'Burlesque' Movie Thread!*
Had to make an official thread for this (I did search for others but as far as I could see-nothing).
Anyway, it stars Christina Aguilera and Cher and here is the new trailer:

I can't wait. I hope the soundtrack is released soon! I love the song Christina sings running through it.
November 24th.

This movie has a solid cast too.
I was worried this was going to be another Glitter but I think it's safe to assume otherwise. This could be one of the best movies of the year.
I need that soundtrack!
Burlesque reflects that with the imagery, plot storyline and just sensational direction by that trailer, i imagine it will get a cult following and be a MAJOR hit this Winter for sure!! and yes i for one would LOVE to get my hands and ears on that soundtrack! my Empire magazine came through today and it had a 2 page discussion on the film and the set on the final day of filming and photo's etc.etc. and the Director said that Christina is a really talented actress(she surprised me by that trailer alone!) and said that some fantastic musicians cannot make that trade from entertainment industry to the other and Christina is a natural, and compared her film career to that of Barbara Streisand's who can master both music AND film! which is a big statement.
the magazine then analysed other musicians who didn't manage to pull off a film career, saying Madonna as world's hugest entertainer had a few box office smashes (Desperately Seeking Susan,Who's That Girl,Dick Tracey,League Of Their Own and Evita) also had several disasters and Body Of Evidence was used as an example of it ( I personally LOVE BofE it's so dirty but very well directed! i have never understood it;s criticism but that's ANOTHER topic altogether LMAO!) and that of Britney's debut film Crossroads. And Chris Rea's films, Kylie Minogue's The Delinquents and of course Mariah's Glitter!
i personally think that Christina really got into the vibe and character of the movie and with this film could set herself a brilliant movie career aswell as music, she just needs to be able to balance BOTH! but Burlesque i am sure will be a hit over the Christmas period! and after Toy Story 3...is the next most anticipated film i wanna see!...oooh and Machete and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
I'd say, for those who want to get a feel of what the movie will be like....buy/listen to Christina's album 'back to basics'
Then the music kicked in (hearing 20 seconds of the theme song already sounds better than all of Bionic combined, so at least we know she has some good songs coming her way) hopefully the first half of the trailer is condensed into 15 minutes, then we get her actual performances for the majority of the rest, burlesque is perfect for Christina, she's never been the most amazing dancer like Madonna or Britney, but she can move in time with the music and I think the more sexy style of Burlesque will suit her perfectly.
I also think it will do well, since hardly anyone even knows about Bionic, many may think this is her comeback and it might gain a lot of Buzz.
Also the theme tune and style of the seems all very big budget, showbizzy style so will be perfect for a live performance or two. X Factor for definite, MTV Movie Awards, although they are next year, maybe sneak a performance in to the VMA's?A bit early, but will certainly create buzz not only for the film, but for a proper old fashioned Christina belting performance.
Xtina: Alice
Now THERE'S a name that needed shortening... This looks like Showgirls for Tweens...
Which is my favourite Christina era, coincidentally! Ain't No Other Man, Hurt, Candyman...fantastic songs, fantastic look...I think she was at her creative best here.
Christina Aguilera clearly cannot act - and the plot looks wafer thin.
Cher can act, but her face is so frozen she does not appear able to speak properly.
To be fair, Christina has never claimed she can act
Which is why i found it random she did the movie
Oh well. I can't wait
Cher does look stiff. Can't judge Xtina's acting
Plus, to a few posts above.
It's a romcom where they look after a baby because it's parents die the film is just a cheap copy of many other films sorry but i won't be seeing this.
Where's the baby in the trailer?
that's true. it's what stops me seeing so many of these dance films. it's very predictable. I hope she is a good actress, it's hard to judge from the trailer. It seems, from the trailer, that she gets a place because of her voice...acting? or just christina
Good point. Don't knock it til we've seen it that's what I say
Also, I know people keep commenting on Cher's 'face' but I actually think she looks great and she's certainly not unnatractive!
No one said it had but i am saying this is something that has been done before movie wise. Not a criticism of the movie. But an actual fact about the movie.
Coyote Ugly, Showgirls have similar themes.
plus it looks a little like chicago, which i loved.
Obviously. You didn't need really need to tell us. Soon as i heard she was doing a movie and i knew she would do a single.
Of course James Bond Casino Royale hadn't been done before. . .
The whole spy thing. . .with gadgets. . .
Movies are rarely original.
They are for entertainment.
