I'm also a casual UFC fan and I think the actress who played Angel dust, Gina Carona, is both a hottie and was decent in Haywire (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1506999/) But here she was strangely both unsexy and slightly wooden. Didn't matter too much, but I hope they make more of her if she returns.
She's always wooden, she can't act at all, see Fast and Furious 6.
Anything in that arena. Genuinely interested. I can't think of anything that's done it as blatantly as Deadpool to be honest.
The two that spring to mind for me are Blazing Saddles, the end where they break out of their film set and chase each other across other sets is very blatantly knowing in a similar way to Deadpool, and obviously (given the massive nod from Deadpool at the end) Ferris Bueller's Day Off in terms of 4th wall breaking. Deadpool does go so much further in both of these respects though, but I really like that. The superhero genre does need sending up and deserves to have it done in an entertaining way by something like Deadpool, rather than one of those tacky spoof efforts like Superhero Movie. It's far more subversive and amusing that the send-up is coming from within a superhero movie.
Pretty much a no-brainer anyway, but the article reports that the main issue was how much of a raise he was going to get as his salary for the first one was "only" $2 million.
I'm glad to see they're producing a sequel, I just hope (for the sake of Ryan and the character) that they don't drag this on too much. I'd be more than content with a Trilogy to be honest. A solid trilogy would do the cast, crew and characters justice.
Here's hoping for a few more (but not too many) x-men in the next film too. A cameo from Wolverine or Charles wouldn't go amiss either, but the studio needs to remember (I think) that this film is about Deadpool, and not another x-men film.
I'm not sure about introducing major X Men characters in the sequel as I feel it would take some of the edge away from it!
I think it has to be Cable in the sequel as I would prefer that Deadpool creates his own part of the Fox X Men universe with the more adult characters in it than join the 12A X Men universe!
Great news they're all 100% official now. I certainly trust that they will do just as good a job the second time around even though I imagine the budget will be significantly bigger.
But then will it ?. Could we feasibly get a situation where they actually turn down more money in favour of keeping to the same style and formula of what worked in the first one because of how true it stays to the character ?

Yes. They're pretty much said as such. Sometimes bigger isn't always better.
Well it seems that the Idiots in charge of release dates have screwed over the UK again.
According to Amazon USA the Americans will get Deadpool on May 10th.
According to Amazon UK, us Brits will get Deadpool on June 13th.
According to Blu-ray.com Deadpool is listed as Region A, but is as yet untested on other regions. If they don't release it on the same date, then they are playing a dangerous game, where they are likely to be the ones that get screwed over.........Chicka, Chi-kaah!
I've just seen it and enjoyed it
I loved the cynical, sarcastic humour and fourth wall breaking but while it sends up the superhero genre well, the love story in the movie is a cliche in itself

I didnt quite understand
the connection between Deadpool and X-Men?
There was another version of Deadpool in the Wolverine film. We don't go there any more.

So go multi-region...problem solved.
I got the US version yesterday, enjoyed it with a few reservations.
The good news is all of the spoof trailers and tv appearances are on the disc, along with deleted scenes, gag reel and making of stuff.

I will do, but in which respect?
Making fun of its own genre? Fourth wall breaking?

Should be soon now that Ryan Reynolds has reportedly put pen to paper to officially return for the sequel.

I think it's also been done in the Airplane & Naked Gun films and also Space Balls, slight 4th wall breaking, like a glance to audience.

Ryan Reynolds, original director Tim Miller and original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick all returning.
Chimichangas all around!
