The 'Family of Blood' I'd be surprised if its the same 'family' though
Thank goodness I am not the only one and couldn't they have found a taller actress to play the prostitute
That would have ruined an extremely funny visual gag, albeit one in extremely poor taste!
I did however think the way Oswald was portrayed in rhis episode as a 'victim', a little boy who never grew up so could never have a relationship with a real woman, was very clever.
Disclaimer: please note that I said I thought it was 'very clever', not that I agreed it was the case.
where was the discussion and wider scope of the category 0 and category 1 self-selection?
Most of all though, after watching the next time trailer I'm really worried about the time being devoted to the resolution here. They've got two hours to go and it's looking worryingly like real actual answers to what's going on might not come until the last episode (or at least late on in episode 9). If the ending feels rushed after 10 hours of screen time that's damn near unforgivable.
I would have liked to have seen more mention of the category 0 at least...if she knew about it, who else did and why didn't more find out about it? sure they could have cut a couple things to fit that in.
I am worried about getting the answers we want - and those answers having enough time to not feel rushed. there's a bunch of stuff that has to get shoved into these last two episodes!
I found the revelation of the CIA woman being part of one of the families a genuine shock.
You found it a "genuine shock" that someone that hadn't been in any previous episode (in any significent way that I can remember) being a double agent? You are very easily shocked.
I will be shocked if the writers manage to wrap up all the loose ends. "Dead is dead", The new religion, the Phi-corp CEO, the camps, the family, the morphic field, the financial melt-down, the pedo/PR lady, etc, etc.
The trailer for next week seem to introduce a brnd new story line of Gwen's family hiding her dad from authorities, so no attempt to conclude the 100s of ideas they've already thrown at the screen hoping something will stick.
I have a horrible feeling RTD will do one of his "one leap and we're free" endings, like the whole worlds population just having to want to return to normal and this it affects the morphic field.
Still watching, but mostly in dispare, not pleasure.

I don't think that's a brandnew storyline, but something I would have expected to happen (kind of a logical progression). After the categories have been introduced and it has become known that the category 1 members are being burned, people would try to hide category 1 members at home or somewhere (I assume particularly if they think that the person has been wrongly classified.
God, I love DS.
The posters here have just saved me from watching what appears to be a dire episode.
Although I may ffwd to the John DeLancie bits just to see how he's changed.
Many thanks.:D

I would strongly advise you to watch it yourself, following the recommendations of a bunch of strangers (positive or negative) might not be the best way to go about it.

True I suppose, but I do agree with another poster who said that it should have been done in a week like COE.

You mean in 5 episodes over a span of a week? To be fair, we had a lot of new characters and a new setting, and I think the writers took great care to introduce all the different characters and to give them some kind of backstory. It probably could have been shorter, no doubt, but I quite like the fact that so many different aspects of the characters and the backstory have been explored. To a degree I would have liked to find out more about category 0, and who decided on it (another committee??).
As they keep dropping in Doctor Who references, do you think the red baron is do with Rory. A while ago I mentioned his name means red king. The writers are in cahoots.:D

Oh I dunno. As a resident of the city of Swansea which Gwen also now seems to be, she's doing a fine impersonation of the erratic, irrational mentalism the women of this city specialise in, especially when cast adrift in a foreign land and out of their comfort zone. Either that or she's been told to act like a stereotypical woman in the audience of Rikki Lake. I can't decide. Even still, her and Jack are carrying the other two. I suspect she'll be better on home turf.
Just how excellent was Q though. Brilliant lines, brilliant delivery. Just like Q from the first TNG episodes. I'll forgive the scriptwriters a lot for that alone. It is too long though, but is that a requirement of US TV? BBC don't have a problem with 6 episode series, in fact it's become the norm with Spooks, Luther (double episodes), Sherlock etc.
On a personal note, the next episode will be interesting if only because it's set about 800 yards from my house and funnily enough the pharmacists has been left pretty much untouched after filming (it used to be an excellent butchers before retirement). I hope the missus pointing at every location and going "Ooh" won't ruin the enjoyment too much, but then I suspect I'll be doing the same anyway!!
I'm enjoying Torchwood but it is a bit drawn out. Ep 5 & 6 were really good and they kept the pace going but then last night you have those long drawn out sections that go nowhere.
I've got to say I don't enjoy the gay scenes but having now watched last nights ep I realise why the story backround from last week was there.
On a different note I did start thinking about what the bigger picture could be last night.
I will spoiler it even if it's nowhere near or it's already been talked about just in case.
Firstly when the cat 0 thing came about I started thinking that maybe MD was a huge build up so that the powers that be could get to this stage i.e it's all been some part of a massive genocide plan first you get people used to the idea of cat 1 and the fact that you burn the people you don't need, then you move it up a gear.
Then I was left thinking well is it all just to get hold of the alien tech?
Thank goodness I am not the only one and couldn't they have found a taller actress to play the prostitute
That would be the one prepared to have Oswolds willy in her whilst she pretended to be a schoolgirl but left in hysterics because he just wanted to talk?
...CJ will suddenly recover his immortality' in the back of Esther's car, following the last kiss with Angelo and the faffing about with the morphic field thingy..
All very convenient for Esther who's driving round like a lemon wailing that she doesn't know what to do.
Got a feeling she'll be a 'goner' by ep. 10 as the writers are ruthless, in that sense. Rex, possibly, too, when the 'miracle' ends.
Well they dragged that out to breaking point. And what's with the Star Trek cast-offs?
Not impressed...again. I'm really not sure why I'm doggedly persisting with this. I guess I still want to know what the "miracle day" is all about.
Sounds to me like you are REALLY impressed. The storyline is keeping you guessing, which is good. If the series began with "oh look, no one is dying", followed by a hurried explanation from Jack only seconds later, this series would have been shite.
How will this end is the main question? I see everytone that should be dead dying and Jack losing his immortality.
The families are a bit too much like the Slitheen.
Who are the blessed? the family members who've attended immortality, but how? Maybe they're be revealed as Face of boe style creatures and Jack will transform into one of them at the end wrapping up the whole Face of Boe story and giving Torchwood a real ending.

Yes, this! Not ending it now though - Jack should end Torchwood being very much like the FoB, tying it all in!
Loved last nights episode, quite upset that Angello died but then it was as if Jack could have made him young again! Agree that we need alot more info on 'the Family' though......It is quite refreshing that they weren't in it from the get go but I'm also concerned the ending will be a bit rushed. Hope the next two move on the story at a faster pace.

I doubt they will even reference the whole Face of Boe thing let alone have it as an integral part of the story. If they do it's a BIG mistake, the question about Jack and the Face of Boe has always been one of the best stories never told and should remain so. It's a great contributing factor to the mystery of Jack and i for one would hate to see them unravel all the mystery surrounding him, it would wreck the character in my opinion. From infinite possibilities that have kept us guessing for years and what is a huge part of that which makes Jack so appealing, we would be left with one unavoidable truth....no thanks!
Haven't spotted this mentioned - it may have been...
Did anyone else get the impression that Angelo died when Jack stood close to him because the floor responded to Jack's presence - as if Jack being there triggered something?
If so, Jack (or his blood) could be the "missing element" - the "thing" that allowed a generic field generator to take on the property of preventing death.
I also got the idea that having Jack spend so much time in contact with that floor was setting up the possibility (probability?) of the system working the other way around - Jack absorbing the immortality from humans - as the final "cure". I'm thinking that he's about to start healing quickly after that contact with the floor - and Rex's bleeding during the escape was his immortality wearing off or being removed completely.

As alway Minky, you could be correct.
I just presumed it was because he pulled out the plug lol but thinking about it, I don't suppose alien tech is fitted with a 13 amp:)

He's not changed much - a bit thicker set, a few facial lines and a beard that really suits him.
He play it rather less camp than "Q" but just as sarcasctic.
I liked the character - a cross between Q and Gene Hunt.

didn't Esther say something about how it was a combination of jack's DNA and the gizmo under the floor which killed him ?
but did jack tell them that he'd kissed him ?
