I hope they call him Arthur- how awesome would it to be to know as King Arthur! Also, assuming I live a natural length life, I should see him ascend the throne- and want to live in the "Arthurian Age"
I mean no personal offense to you, but perhaps a more rounded history lesson in regards the history of royalty and their influence and treatment of common folk would perhaps enlighten a different view as to their relevance right now. Or their relevance in history.
It really is just a woman giving birth, and as with all other women giving birth, I'd wish congrats and best wishes. But this sycophantic interest in it? Just don't get it. Other than having the physical ability to give birth, which needs no qualifications, as well as having arbitrary birth rights and privileges which have dubious origins, and to be honest, in 2013 are quite outmoded and surplus to requirements, there is nothing 'special' about the birth. No more so than any other women in my mind. This worship for an institution of people who were born into privilege of dubious origin, baffles me.
Sure the heavily PR'd side of royal family are quaint. And I guess certain types of people need 'role models' or a way to express sycophantic behavior. But in my experience, people who behave like this have little grasp of the real history of the royal family, what they mean, what they are, what they really do, their relevance or their real place in political decision making.
With one last moan her waters broke
And with tears of joy back we choke
It's a king! it's a king! doth the midwife exclaim
And over his people our sovereign will reign
For a royal event like this is so rare
And dear little boy your public care
Now its time for mummy to rest
So no more tears - don't be no pest!
Katie rest those legs your wounds will heal
It's all been worth the soreness you feel
We're so happy for you on this special day
And you can snub your nose at all those sayers neigh
The bunting, the joyness tis all for you
You've made us proud to be English that is so true.

Sometimes, instead of overanalysing things, it's a good idea to just chill out.
Prince Arthur would be nice but David Cameron's son is Arthur.
I can't remember if there was so much pomp surrounding Prince William's birth. Did they do gun salutes after his birth ?
Yes they did..
As for those moaning about this baby... Seriously get a grip.. Any child born healthy is something to be celebrated..no matter who their parents are... I've read some awful comments about this child being a burden on us all etc.. He didn't choose who his parents would be... Lighten up
I thought it would be a girl for sure as I just couldn't imagine them having a boy and even now it has actually happened I'm still finding it hard to imagine. They just don't seem like the type of couple who would have a boy, it doesn't suit them. (I hope that makes sense but hell, it's late)
Glad things went well but I do find the media hysteria a HUGE turn off. Honestly, does anyone believe that Kate and William will be doing night-feeds, changing nappies and physically looking after each and every need of Baby Cambridge? Even Diana had TWO NANNIES although we are told she was a "fantastic mum"!! Yes, in Royal Terms she was as she saw her children more than at 5pm tea and bath time!!!!! It seems the hysterical TV presenters, especially on SKY believe each and every word they hear. We were told that William wanted to down-size the Royal Family and he lived in a "Cottage" in Wales. The Cottage is actually a huge Farm House, no staff? Now we hear they have a forty room plus apt in Kensington Palace with staff and a huge mansion Weekend home in Sandringham.
After the fiasco of Diana and Charles (who were so in love and mad about each other, as the Palace told us in the 80s), his decision "Never to Marry Again" after Diana's death, to his consort wife who would never want to be Queen Camilla and now what is Happening, a desperate attempt to get her accepted as the next Queen of England.
I wish Kate and William well but they will never, ever be like us. No matter how frantic the PR Team at the Palace want us to believe they are!!
I hope they call him Arthur- how awesome would it to be to know as King Arthur! Also, assuming I live a natural length life, I should see him ascend the throne- and want to live in the "Arthurian Age"
Failing that, Joffrey....
I remember the week wait we had when William was Born and I believe Charles wanted the Name Arthur for William but Diana was against that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I would not be surprised if William calls his son Arthur to please his Dad, whom he seems desperate to please at all costs.
Some of the comments on the DM article about Kate not hiding her 'mummy tummy' make me despair. I can only hope they were just said to try and get as many red ticks as they could.

I don't think William seems desperate to please anyone. He seems to be very much his own man. If he does call his son Arthur it will be because he and Kate want to, not because he's desperate to please anyone.

So William got to sow his seed
Another Windsor mouth to feed
He’ll surely love the little lad
His wife the Duchess has just had
They’ll show him how he must behave
And teach him how to point and wave
He might yet get to have a laugh
When Philip farts or makes a gaffe
On Royal jaunts to lands afar
They’ll treat him like a movie star
He’ll learn to dance and look a prat
In ethnic garb and tribal hat
The Royals he will surely save
By learning how to point and wave
He’ll take a wife, a Queen one day
Unless we’re blessed and he is gay
But no, that surely would be weird
There’d have to be a Royal Beard
To take the Windsors on and on
There is no way that they’ll be gone
So Prince of Cambridge take your place
And thrill us with your Princely face
But from the cradle to the grave
Just don’t forget to point and wave

Folk just say these things to be provocative. They like to test how far they can push the boundaries of bad taste.
Kate gave birth 24 hours before those pictures were taken. She looks perfectly normal and in good health.
People can't seem to come to terms with what a normal woman looks like in pregnancy and post-birth these days, when we are bombarded by images of rake-thin celebrities strutting out in skinny jeans a week after giving birth.

Did anybody on here actually say these are good?
No, didn't think so

Umm what's wrong with taking a suggestion from your Dad who you love and loves you?
Charles wasn't the main problem - Diana's parents screwed her and he siblings up long before she met him. Her first marriage was always going o be a mess.

Nope! They probably haven't even touched the baby again since their public appearance.

King Dick
Prince Michael? Think Wacko Jacko got that one in first
Do you?

No he didn't! What about Prince Michael of Kent? And it was only the media who dubbed Michael Jackson as Prince!
No...MJ's son is called Prince. The media didn't choose it. MJ was know as the King of pop by the media.

Oh, I thought that last poem was meant to be tongue in cheek but now I'm not so sure!
Prince Michael of Kent is much older than MJ's son!
