Why is it so hard to find a decent bra?

I had myself re-fitted today as I have been getting back ache, and it turns out I have been wearing the wrong cup and back size for that past few years. Instead of the 36 E I though I was I am in fact a 38 F or G depending on the make!!

I managed to find one bra in a 38 F in the whole of M&S! I also trawled BHS and even Evans, and they had nothing above a D cup in any size!

Why do the shops assume that all women are small chested? I cannot help having big boobs! It would be much easier for me if I was a C or a D cup, but thats just the way I am proportioned! If I want a bra I have to go to those really dear specialist underwear shops, I can't nip into Primark or New Look and pick up a cheap one.

Its not fair!

Just a thought had you tried online suppliers? This would give you more time to browse and check sizes for each website.
Im not expert of course, just a guy. :D

Apparently you are meant to get your breasts re-meassured at least once a year as they are always changing shape.

I was wearing the same sized bra for a few years, then got remeasured and was surprised about the difference.

With regard to availablilty it annoys me aswell as I am quite an odd size. I always find online shops much better for buying them although I would prefer to get them from the high street as at least then you can go try them on. Its such a faff to send things back from buying on the internet. 2 different bra's can be completly different fittings so I would much rather try them on in changing rooms and then just buy the ones that actually fit.

There is a thread about big boobs in the Advice section, got pretty heated at one point, with it being implied I was stupid for not going to Primark when they had new stock in, but that is another story... (ever seen a GG in Primark? No, me neither)
Get thee to Bravissimo:) I would be forever in white scaffolding bras without them. Eeek.

Primark seem to think all women have two backs  I don't think they even go above a C cup, so your definatly right about them not stocking a GG cup.

Sorry forget M & S for F cups you need to go to a specialist shop or John Lewis. Funny I did that this afternoon and at £50 a bra not cheap but well worth it for comfort. And just because you are one size in one make doesn't mean you will be the same size for all makes.

Someone else mentioned bravissimo and they are fabulous bras and very pretty.

By the way i swear the cups sizes have changed because I am sure my boobs aren't any bigger but last time I was an E cup and now an F cup!!

I could never afford a £50 bra. I think it is unfair that people with bigger boobs have to pay so much while people with smaller ones, for them bras are ten a penny.

People who are over weight don't pay more because their clothes are bigger. Why should people with big boobs have to pay £30 + for a good bra? It's so unfair, I hate it.

    I have 32F chest size and 34inch legs...go figure!

When I was younger and none of the shops did "tall" sections i was easily paying 40-50 quid for a pair of jeans...when I was 15!!! (I say I i meant my parents)

I got over that hurdle (kind of, its still a problem now) and no I have a stupid sized chest! Grrrr!

Does part of the bra size refer to the width of a woman's back?

yeah the 32 or 40 is the width of your back in inches I think and the letter abcd and so on are the cup sizes. People with bigger backs should have bigger cups sizes but that is not always the case as with me.

People with bigger backs shouldnt have bigger cup sizes at all. It varies from person to person

That is what I said in my post. But you are more likely to find a 40 DD than a 32 or a 26 A than a 26F that is just the way it is and it is annoying and unfair. Plus they don't do half sizes in womens shoes but they do for me grrrr.

I have an average back and a big cup... 36GG. It's actually a lot easier to find bras in some places in this size than my sisters which is a 42C.

I'm the same, even down to believing I was a 36E. :D

I can't afford the prices of somewhere that specialises in bigger sizes so usually have to buy one too small. :o
