Book gift advice

I know technically it could go in general advice but since I was specifically thinking books it could still go here. I want to buy a little thank you gift, for someone who is smart and a bit serious, but that will also be a bit of a laugh. I'm thinking something along these lines:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Why-Cant-Elephants-Jump-Tantalising/dp/184668398X/ref=pd_cp_b_3

Though I thought maybe because they like a bit of booze (in a sophisticated way of course :p ), maybe this would be better:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Whiskey-Philosophy-Small-Spirited-Everyone/dp/0470431210/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1329426285&sr=8-15

I was also thinking of a more serious heavy going book, but I don't know...I was thinking this one.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Why-Its-Kicking-Off-Everywhere/dp/1844678512/ref=sr_1_12?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329427791&sr=1-12

I don't know about the serious though...but yeah. I'm not so good with things like decision making so if anyone has any suggestions on which is best, or of their own I'd really appreciate it :)
