Mafia III?

Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I was wondering if anyone knows if a third Mafia game is being planned? I did a search but there wasnt much other than rumours from a couple of years ago that they may be planning a next gen game.

Anyone know if there's any truth in this? Loved Mafia 2 and would be very happy to see a third.

Thanks.

I don't think it sold well enough for a sequel.

Well last that I heard was it was in production, but then 2K games said they had no plans as of yet for it. So who knows, maybe the new GTA scared them off a little.

They still own the IP, so its still possible for them to bring it out, but I wouldn't expect anything in the foreseeable future.

Absolutly loved Mafia 2 - is Mafia 1 still available.

What I loved about Mafia 2 was that you were essentially playing through the plot of a film...rather linear in tone but the storyline was excellent and I loved the ending as well which really did have that hardball movie feel to it.

It reminded me in it's playing style of The Getaway which isn;t suprising as I believe the same guy was involved in both games.

This is fantastic news I really loved Mafia 2. I wonder if this next sequel will tie in with the previous game? Can't wait to see the announcement trailer next Wednesday :)

I liked Mafia 2 but I only played it because it was free. It had a good story but the only thing lacking was there wasn't much to besides the main missions in the city. I hope they'll do more side missions and activities outside of the main story this time.

The only good thing about Mafia 2 were the Playboy Magazines. Hope they make a return. Ooh-La-La!

Looking forward to this. I loved Mafia 2, if they can build on that game the third should be awesome. The story and world in Mafia 2 was great but the map was so under used it was crazy.

I liked Mafia 2 but wasn't the production a bit of a mess, didn't they cut a load of stuff out, side missions etc? Hopefully they will make the 3rd one more like their intended plan for 2. Not sure about the trailer, seems a bit strange to me but was late when I looked at it.

I just hope the actual game is not as dark as the trailer, as you could hardly see any of it.

Really looking forward to this. Loved the way it played like a film, even if the Chinese restaurant was a bit of a bitch to do, really fun :)

There was a lot wrong with Mafia II, but looking back all my memories of it involve me having a lot of fun. So yes, I'm kind of excited about III.

Looking forward to it, although I would have preferred playing a white Italian protagonist. But we'll wait and see, hope there is a DLC to
    play an older Vito Scaletta.

Looking at the gameplay I hope they tone down the over the top action, like smashing into cars causing them to fly in the air and explode/set on fire.
