Thank you to everyone who has shared here a part of what they have done career-wise. Personally I loved learning more about everyone and it creates a fuller impression.
There's a taste for the RT programmes now and all the supporting print media need to fill their pages - they are a group of monsters shoring each other up.
However, I think many of us (the innocent bystanders who generally would like to be entertained) can see through all the manipulation that takes place and are getting quite fed up at being used in this way by the media. Unknowns are thrown into these shows and if they prove to have qualities that can be marketed they will reap their rewards of fame and money. They play along either unwittingly or knowingly and many get badly bruised by the whole experience too.
It's not that difficult at all to be 'famous' if you really want that as there are so many outlets to achieve it, but building a serious career and earning respect is harder. There are so many unsung heros in the world who have skills, in various fields, who never achieve the fulfillment of expressing their talent. I'm not referring to OK-type fame either, or 'fame' as such at all.
I think one of the most precious things you can have is your privacy. Being in the public eye in this day is incredibly intrusive and I feel for those that endure it. You would have to close your ears to most of it otherwise it would drag you down too deep.
OK, so your not jealous of anyone in the media limelight.
Well most of the country i imagine would love to be in the media.
Without it we wouldn't even know who was running the country, and also we would have nothing to watch on TV as there wouldn't be any TV.
All the Theatre's are full of people who want to be noticed, as are the actors in all the millions of films and all those who enter all the TV shows for singing or BGT.
Maybe certain people have many talents but if they don't want publicity it will be lost.
And also all these youngsters that want to make money and have a nice house and family sure aren't going to get it without some luck and the TV or media because there's no work out there so they will never have anything.
Hicky, I'm not against people wanting to be well-known in some career capacity, it's just as well there are many people who do enjoy it. It's more a case of how it is achieved that is much debated and criticised. A lot of young people get caught up in a dangerous way I feel which is often to their cost. Yes, being successful in particular careers does automatically result in becoming famous. Nothing wrong either in wanting a more secure life financially, but some integrity and caution in how it's achieved is a good idea.

Yes, most people do and Chanelle has to make it while she is still a 'face' but unless she develops a talent, she will not be able to earn good money for very long, people do lose interest
Most writers go on making money until they die and even posthumously, so their estate benefits.
I still don't see why it would arouse jealousy. Feeling you have to look perfect and all that entails, is pretty wearing..

I'm the same as you in that i enjoyed the first few series better as they didn't have an agenda.
As the years went on there was a very big hype to the 'getting famous' from the show and most have tried to do so.and good for them in whatever way they have tried to do so.....some go down different routes than others
All i'm saying is that loads of people have done BB and they have used it to their advantage.
Hi Islay - I don't see anything wrong in using the 5 mins of fame resulting from appearance on BB to make money - in fact after what they go through, they deserve it!
Some of the ex BBHMs probably have talents or abilities which can be marketed in the longer term, but not many these days. I wish they would accept that as fact and either return to study, start a business, travel the world, something to broaden their horizons and enable them to live a fulfilled life from there on. I doubt that the cash than they earn off the back of BB would sustain them for a lifetime, so they need something to fall back on in the longer term.

There are many people in theater who have no desire to be "noticed". Many, many people are quite content as theater performers. Many TV actors chose to step out of the limelight slightly and do theater work.
The same goes for other forms of entertainment, how many circus performers are in newspapers day in, day out? How many cabaret acts are on this morning everyday? How many red coats are paraded on the news? How many poets are in a thong on the front of Nuts?
Most of the contestants on these reality shows have a very, very short shelf life in the mainstream media. Some have even ruined previously good, well paid careers. The media doesn't just bring fame, fortune & wealth. It can bring hatred, abuse, violence & the perception of being a "loser" (even if you win one of these shows).
Simply being in the media, does not bring you buckets of money, I am not sure why you seem to think this?

heres Joe Meek and the blue men ...Joe Meek was a genius back in the day .. ended up being responsible for Telstar by the Tornados. He invented loads of little guitar reverb boxes and stuff . He used to get musicians to stand in his empty bath sometimes while he recorded them in order to get a reverb sound . Hicky she has Grade 8 violin - along with thousands of other people - doesn't make her 'very talented'.
