ITV HD on Sky

When the new EPG is rolled out to your box, you will be able to access the ITV HD channel manually.

To do this, go to the Add Channels menu and use the following settings:

11.427
H
2/3
27500

Channel 10510

Thanks to Charles C for this information.

I don't think it is possible to pause, instantly rewind or record this channel, but correct me if I am wrong. (I don't have the new EPG, so can't test it.)

So you can now manually add video PIDS ? you have to add 3401 for ITV HD. If you can't do this the channel will be seen as an audio channel. (It isn't of course)

Good news for Sky viewers if it suddenly works after the new EPG upgrade. :)

Great news for when the EPG arrives.

Adding it by add channels will do me fine.

Great News, although I have to wait for the new EPG!

But won't ITV block this, somehow??

WOW! Looks great. Is this a shortime blip or has ITV finally seen sense?

Who is Charles C, a Sky insider? How did he know this was posible, especially since it's on 29500 but the Sky boc won't let you enter that, only 22000 or 27500.

ITV HD uses a standard 27500 SR not 29500 :)

ITV will block this surely? All it would take is another tweak to the stream. I cant believe they would happily allow this to be added to SKY boxes.

Im going to email ITV and ask what their position is on this.

ITV HD is using a SR of 27500. It just used some other odd parameters.

AS I have posted on the other thread, I believe this is sky updating the software to comply with the EU directive that says the box must receive ALL FTA broadcasts, and ITV HD is after all FTA, even if it does use some unusual parameters.

At the moment the only channels using 29500 are subscription channels. I maintain if or when a FTA channel starts using 29500, then sky will have to update it's software to add that.

Compliance with this EU directive is after all why Add Channels was added to a sky box.

Tweak their stream, get freesat boxes tweak, Sky tweak their software.

It becomes a pointless game of cat and mouse at that stage. How about ITV throw in six hours worth of HD content per day people want to see?

The amount of people who can do it is small - the amount who will do it will be even smaller and ITV needs all the viewers it can .

    Please don't do that.

Then we shall have to keep it quiet so they don't hear about it otherwise they probably try to do something.:)

Why does the new EPG make it possible to receive ITV HD?

If its only the EPG being changed surely it should work now?

All the parameters you list are available on all boxes:confused:

If I dont get an appropriate response I will be ringing them. I bought a freesat box on the basis of getting an exclusive ITV HD service.

I have tried adding it to my box and it doesn't even find that particular channel.

Do you have to have the new software to find the channel?

Maybe if a deal has been signed for itv hd they could have embedded a code into the new epg software so when all hd boxes have it activate the red button or i could be wrong.

As usual sky are using totally underhand practices. ITV have said they are a commercial organisation and want sky to pay for ITV HD.

This is just as bad as the cracking of ondigital smartcards that sky encouraged,.
