The Sun's website is claiming it was a brain tumour. I hope not, I know what that's like, it's how my Dad died.:(
Same here, and it's an atrocious thing. He had a glioma multiforme, the worst one you can get and was just a bit younger than Anne Kirkbride. :(

I must say when I just heard it on the radio I was shocked , 60 is nothing these days and I had no idea she was ill .

RIP Anne you gave us many years of the wonderful character that was Deirdre.

It would probably explains her odd behaviour what with story's of her crying getting upset collapsing on set :(

I did wonder if her "break" has had more to it than what was released, regardless she was entitled to privacy and I am pleased she got it.

Shocking news, although I suspected there was more to her absence than we were being told.

Another Corrie Legend gone, her loss will be felt and I could already feel it watching on delay today. The legends are being lost and it is being felt, Betty and Deirdre in particular.

Only just read this now WTF :o this is so shocking and sad :( RIP Anne. I guess this is why she took that break as she was ill. I wonder what Corrie do now for writing her out

Just switched the news on and this is the first thing I saw on the ticker. :o

Such a shock. I am absolutely gutted.

Can't believe she's never going to be back on the Cobbles.
    No more Ken and Dierdre.

Only 60. Far too young to go.

    Rest in Peace, Anne.

This is highly likely, my father never wept but when his tumour came he began doing so at random moments for no obvious reason, or for silly reasons.

I've been ill all day and just turned the telly on 20 minutes ago. This was such a shock!

She was a true Corrie legend, and more than that, seemed like a really lovely person. I remember the programme Deirdre and Me she did. One of the things that stuck out was how she passed time between filming by cleaning the toilers! She had to keep busy, she said, so she cleaned the loos.

My heart goes out to her husband David. 25 years together.

RIP Annie. You will be missed so much.

I will really miss her. I loved her comedy scenes with Liz and Eileen. And her pottery. And her stuffed marrow. it won't be the same without her.

I am in utter shock. I saw the report a few days back that she'd delayed returning to the show but it sounded like it was nothing serious and she just needed rest. I was not expecting her to be the next to go, that's tragic.

    I could cry.

Condolences and deepest sympathy to Anne's family, friends and all those that were close to her.

The only other time I have felt so sad when a celebrity died was Michael Jackson. I guess its the shock.

Peace be with you Anne, have fun up there! RIP.

So sad. My mum only asked the other day where Deidre was.
