The title says it all.

I want to know it it's possible to transfer a landline number to a mobile phone in the same way that you can transfer a mobile phone number between mobile phone companies?

If you can't does anyone know a mobile phone comapny that lets you choose your aown mobile phone number rather than just get one allocated to you?

No you can't transfer landline numbers

Best way to do it is go on ebay buy a mobile number and ring the network up and ask for a pac code so you can transfer the number to the network provider you already have

If you don't have a provider already you will have to just get a number that's picked by the provider that you go to....You cannot just pick a number that you want or we will all be doing it.

One thing you can do is ask a service provider for a new RGN number. It is the same as a NGN 0800 number. As all 0800 0845 etc are attached to either a landline number or a mobile number. A RGN number is a number from your local exchange or any national number which is then pointed to a destination either a landline or a mobile.

You can ask a service provider to import your existing number into their systems as a RGN number but if you do that the line will no longer exist as a phsyical connection to your property.

Also like 08 numbers you will be paying to recieve calls on the number its roughly 3p per minuite.
