Nope, it hasn't started yet. I'll be delighted when it starts as it'll annoy the moaners no end.

    Me too.

Surprising how much time these "don't care about the Olympics" people spend in the London 2012 sub-forum - surely it makes it a little difficult to ignore them if you're in a sub-forum dedicated to them?!

I don't like X Factor, Big Brother, Football etc so I stay out of their sub-forums and let them enjoy them for what they are.

This isn't an appreciation forum, people have a perfect right to voice their opinions, they balance out those contributors who have a blind adoration of this farce.

The games are easier to ignore if you don't go into a sub-forum devoted to them.

And other people have a perfect right to say when they think these opinions are crap, no?

Why seek a specialist forum out to just voice displeasure for said specialist subject? I hate big brother so why the fcuk would I go into the Big Brother forum to say how much I hate it? It'd be rather pathetic of me to do that, right?

    Right?

Sad people think it's on-trend to poo-poo the Games!

Fine. But then we have people saying if you don't like the Olympics, then keep out of this forum. Tough, dissenting opinion isn't going to go away.

In that case I have been "on-trend" for many, many years. And this isn't a specialist appreciation forum.

Why would I seek out the Big Brother sub-forum (which isn't listed as an appreciation forum) just to comment on how shit it was? Wouldn't that make me a bit of a douchebag? I mean, why bother? Why not simply let people discuss it without the need for me to wade on in there driving my waaaambulance?

Someone did that in the Doctor Who forum once. I don't think they ever found the body. :p

So London 2012 can be discussed in this forum, but only in a good way? Maybe you want a sub-sub forum so you don't have to read any home truths about the games?

Are you deliberately ignoring my question because, well, you'd kinda think I was a bit of a douchebag if I did these things?

An awful lot of the anti-games comments are far from "home truths" - how can they be, the Games haven't even started yet!

This is a forum to discuss ALL things London 2012, not just the nice bits. I haven't been in the Big Brother forum so can't comment on that, but, for example, I do know the Doctor Who forum contains posts from people with many contrary views.

This is not, and never will be an appreciation forum, and you are going to be very disappointed over the next few weeks if you think otherwise.

So you're not going to answer my questions then....?

Entering a sub-forum just to provide a wholly negative opinion IS incredibly dickish.....and I suspect you agree with this too.

If the negative opinion is valid then is it not "dickish", as you so charmingly put it. You really do need to take off those rose tinted glasses, it seems you are in denial about the many shortcomings of London 2012.

Why would someone with no interest in the Olympics take the time to post a message on a sub-forum about the Olympics stating how much they dislike them?

And as you know full well, I have acknowledged MANY times that London won't be without fault.....but that's NO different from any other Games. London WILL have it's faults, which proponents of the Games understand...but they also understand that the Games have many positives too....something which a lot of the whingers on DS seemingly choose to ignore. That's why their comments aren't particularly valid. A lot of the negativity has NO validity at all - some of it is pure tabloid-sensationalistic-nonsense.

So, you wouldn't think it dickish of me to go onto the Big Brother sub-forum and post "I don't watch Big Brother - it's full of wannabes selling their souls to exploitative and corrupt television executives for 15 minutes of fame". Or to visit the Football sub-forum to simply post "I hate football. I'm bored of the transfer news already. Is the new season over yet?"?

You seem to think I have no interest in London 2012, but I DO. I am helping to pay for it, as we all are, through taxes. The games are on my doorstep, a much valued local facility (Greenwich Park) is out of bounds to the public, there is a warship outside my front window with helicopters coming and going at all hours. Transport is going to be horrendously affected. I have every right to voice my opinion on what is happening right outside where I live, as I am in the thick of it. Unlike some, who are commenting from an armchair a hundred miles away.

Do you anticipate saying anything positive about the Olympics in the next few weeks? If you were to occasionally say something constructive then you might be taken more seriously. If you've already made up your mind about the whole thing then you are just asking to be ignored.

I bet you can't wait for the Opening Ceremony so that you can come on here to tell people how rubbish it was.

What IS your interest in the Games then? What positives can you see from them?
