At least the revellers didn't have to find a kebab shop at chucking out time.

If only the bouncer had set fire to a copy of the Daily Mail instead, then he wouldn't've been sent down.

Well I suppose it's not murder, because it wasn't premeditated.

Sounds like manslaughter to me. Unless the bouncer only intended to set part of his costume alight?

If he genuinely thought it was a sheep it would have been two weeks community service. You can do what you like to sheep.

The guy didn't die, so it could never be murder/manslaughter...

Whoops. How about attempted murder? I don't understand how you can set somebody on fire and expect them to walk away afterwards.

 I thought that was a quick and inexpensive way to summon the devil.

From what I've heard the preferred method is to recite the name "Littlejohn" five times while facing a mirror.

I know I shouldn't, but I think this story is hysterical. I'm like the Roman soldiers in Life of Brian....

Wasn't it an accident. I'm all in defense of this poor lad but i don't see anywhere in the article where it mentions it was deliberate.

Rereading the article I'm inclined to agree with you.

Obviously the defendant claimed it was an accident, but it was judged otherwise.

It was described as 'a prank'. Presumably the bouncer had not taken on board the fact that the costume was covered with hairspray (which is incredibly inflammable). He deserved to go to prison, but the comments underneath the article characteristically go much too far.

At least this happened in Preston and not Prestatyn. I dread to think what might have happened.
