I must admit, it's painful listening to this. He's got 3 stooges who laugh and giggle at literally every word he says and most of what's said is anything but hilarious.
Really excruciating.

She plays the needy, entitled, moneyed airhead role brilliantly - in contrast to Alun's mean Yorkshireman and Frank's down-to-earth working-class Midlander. It's a comedy show and benefits from the interplay between contrasting characters.
Thank goodness somebody else "gets" the format of Frank's show. However I tend not to listen to all of it as I find myself switching over several times on a Saturday morning - 0700 Mary-Anne Hobbs on 6 Music, then 0800 over to Absolute for an hour of Frank Skinner, at 0900 it has to be Danny Baker on Five Live and at 1000, and I know plenty don't rate him, over to Graham Norton on Radio 2.
Even though it is an act (which it must be because she is anything but an airhead.... she's been a producer, executive producer, actress etc)...........She is still bloody annoying....... and I actually think that for me knowing that about her makes her worse.
Still, there is no accounting for taste. Each to their own.
I agree completely. I'm well aware she plays up her personality for comic effect but I still find her very unlikable. She also tends to dominate the conversation quite a lot; I feel like Alun can barely get a word in edgeways half the time.
Nevertheless I do enjoy this show (I listen to the podcast). Frank is one of my favourite comedians and I really like Alun too.
This is my view too. I tolerate Dean because I really like Frank and Alun. The worst is when Frank is away and she hosts the show. Those podcasts now get immediately deleted.
It's my favourite show too and I'm also relistening to the back podcasts However, I'm in the Venn Diagram overlap between Skinner and Clarkson.
I can't believe people don't get Emily Dean's act. She does it briliantly, okay she takes quite a lot of getting used to but when you get to understand how pompus and up-herself she plays it, it's really clever and funny. Frank's quick-wittedness is legendary and the three of them play off each other wonderfully, I'm often laughing out loud and the sideways take on life is a real tonic..
I remember him on the midlands circuit, late 80s / early 90s and he was hilarious, very in tune with the local area, characters etc. As he got famous he lost that i though and i never liked his work with Baddiel.
I've never heard his radio show as it clashes with SOTS and Danny Baker
Fair enough but this thread is about the radio show. I'd recommend that you listen to a few podcasts, you might find Frank funny again.I reckon I've heard every show at least once over the three or four years it's been on.It ranges from entertaining to hilarious at times.
He's actually been on Absolute for over 5 years now, so he clearly has a good listenership.
I will do I think. I do generally like him but i struggled a bit with all the Baddeil stuff. I shall download one later
Get rid of her and the show would be far better IMO.
I agree. A total turn-off. It just sounds like an old man droning on while a few girls sit there giggling.
That's Daisy the Producer. They probably are aware; she is included in the conversations occasionally. Can't say I've really noticed her laughing in the background. I know she does, but I don't find it particularly noticeable or annoying.
I disagree with the later posters, the show is hilarious, Frank, Alun and Emily's chemistry is excellent. I'll regularly laugh out loud....... but we can't all like the same things
Thanks for clearing that up Ten_Ben. So it's Daisy is it! I enjoyed it this morning for an hour or so on Absolute 80s. Daisy must have been a little hungover as she wasn't as loud this morning.
I like the way Emily talks to Frank like a school teacher sometimes. He does have a tendency to wander off what he is saying, but Emily soon guides him back to his story.
