With Duran Duran back in the top ten albums, got me wondering how many other acts have managed to have hits over more than one decade.
i'm thinking original/new music, rather than greatest hits or reissues.
Of course Cliff Richard is probabily the longest charted singer, spanning from 1958 thru to 2009 in the UK singles.

Britney Spears
Madonna
Kylie Minogue
Rihanna (mid 00s-present)
Celine Dion
Beyonce (solo and Destiny's Child)
Judas Priest
Motorhead
Will we be listening to Carly Rae Jepsen in 10 years? I doubt it.
Eh, I reckon Call Me Maybe will still get a few spins on commercial radio. It was a really big hit.
She has had a number one single in the US in each of the past six decades.
Cher's been going since the 60s
Madonna been going since the 80s
Britney been going since 1998
P!nk been going since 2000
Mariah Carey been going since the 90s
Will Young been going since 2002
Theres loads more but too tired to think now lol
thousands of acts
if you have a hit in 1969 and a hit in 1970 you have hits over more than one decade for example, or 2009 and 2010 as the years fall in different decades
and theres loads of acts that have been going for over 10 years and having hits a long time apart
look at cathy dennis for eg, short chart career as an artist but much longer when she went into writing. i think most artists career might change path but still carry on in music in some way.
and do breaks count?... look at jackie wilson, hits until 75, then an 11 year gap before re-releases prolonged a dead career..
Admittedly he was an originally an actor but that's still a career spanning nine decades!
Tony Bennett can only claim eight decades as, though he's 89 now, he didn't start performing until the late 1940s.
Re-issues of his albums every year.
How about Jon Hendricks?
According to Wikipedia he started singing at age 7, which would be in the 1920s! So he's performed in 10 decades!
Here he is, I believe in his nineties: https://youtu.be/liXRbSoEsr0
Good call!
I used to like Lambert, Hendricks & Ross.
Dave Lambert died in 1966, hit by a truck on the Connecticut Turnpike, when changing a tyre.
Annie Ross is now 85.
Jon Hendricks is unbelievably, now 94.
Kelly Clarkson (2002)
Carrie Underwood (2005)
George Michael (1983 with Wham and subsequently as a solo artist)
Dolly Parton
Maroon 5
Britney
Christina
There are a lot of artists who are popular in America but not so much over here, who have lasted a really long time. Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Eagles, George Strait, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Big & Rich, Blake Shelton,
Nana mouskouri
Demis Roussos
Daniel O Donnell
all the greats basically:)
the real answer is almost everyone except the most ephemeral of pop acts
First female to have a number one album in 80s, 90's,00's and 10's
has had top 3 hits in all those decades, not bad for someone who was meant to be a flash in the pan!
