I don't know or mind how cute kids are, all I know is that they aren't interesting to watch on a soap. Seen and not heard is the best way for them, and Bianca's lot never seem to have got the memo.
Personally I was a drop dead gorgeous baby and women fell at my tiny little feet, but that doesn't mean I'd make good soap viewing.
The kids being seen and not hear in soaps these days are an old saying if Janine was seen and not heard then we wouldn't of known what she would be like when she got older. In real life kids are seen and heard. My mum and dad were concerned that I never spoke properly until I was 5. Im sick of people who say kids should be seen and not heard if they are then how wold they get to show of their acting like Melissa Suffield at a young age and Lorna Fitzgerald. Parents in real life talk to their kids and kids in real life are seen and heard I was seen and heard as a child. The whole point of being a actor/actress is to speak and to show off their acting skills.

Kids should be seen and not heard Janine was seen and heard a lot. Kids in all soaps are seen and heard and in Hollyoaks Tom has always been seen and heard.
You would of made good soap viewing and I would have given you lines to say a lot.
I wasn't cute, and I've no idea about you and your friends, but I find kids messy and annoying.
Kids are not messy and annoying. My two friends who are married have a baby and he is the cutest baby ever and when he smiles he always likes to show people his teeth he smiles at me a lot. Maybe if your a father then you wouldn't say kids are annoying and messy. I wasn't annoying as a child I was a bit messy sometimes but not all the time. I don't know how you can hate kids. Kids are so cute if you met some you would agree.
The problem with soap kids is there bratty behaviour is something tptb find cute. Professor Curly, knowning everything about the universe and generally being rude is behaviour that is admired on t'street.
Tiffany/Bobby's vomit inducing relationship was another instance where the 'cute factor' failed. Bianca encouraging her kids bratty behaviour, I didn't find it funny when they were wrecking Zainabs water feature or when she took a picture of Janine scrubbing the floor.
Kamil was a lovely kid and Leah HO is adorable.

Its not Maisie and Devon's fault if Eastenders writes write them to be brats is it and its not Alex's Bains fault if the writers in Coronation Street write him to be a brat the younger actor and actresses shouldn't be blamed because of the writing. Do you like Bobby, Tommy, Lexi, Amy and Lily? Would you invite any kids from Eastenders to the Soap Awards if you were EP because they are part of the cast and should be able to go.
Imagine if I wasn't heard but seen as a child until 16 then I wouldn't of been able to tell my mum or dad that I wasn't well and how would I let them know if I wet myself or if I was scared. This is the 21st century now kids are seen and hear in real life so they should be seen and heard in soaps now and Walford is a community and in a community in real life there are lots of kids more than Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks and kids who live in houses near me and my aunty's and Uncle's are seen and hear a lot its natural. its like saying all these kids now should be seen and not heard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2cIFflgXfI

I think you've missed the point - kids in SOAPS should be seen and not heard, this doesn't necessarily apply to real life!
The thing with kids in soaps is that they are purely there as an attachment of their parents, hence most don't have their own storylines or if they do then they're just filler, kind of like Abi's hamster years ago or Morgan and Tiff's discussion about chicken nuggets not so long ago. The soap would go on regardless of if these snippets were included or not, therefore the kids are not essential to the soap whatsoever until they reach their teens when they usually begin to take part in more dramatic and more interesting storylines.

MG, do you watch Emmerdale? There's a fantastic child actress who plays the part of April, Donna and Marlon's little girl. She has lines to speak and is a brilliant actress especially as she's only a child.

I watch Emmerdale on ITV Player. Yep she is a good actress and I felt sorry for April when Marlon said he didn't want to be her dad. Do you think Maisie Smith and Devon Higgs are good at acting?
But kids talk to their parents in real life. Kids should talk in soaps its the 21st century now not the old days.
You keep saying that, about how it's not the "old days". That has nothing to do with my opinion whatsoever - kids just don't add anything significant to soaps for me. Yes they should be there, it would be unrealistic if they weren't and if no soap couple had children, but as I said before they only ever seem to be included for filler scenes, regardless of if they're a good actor or not! They only tend to get interesting storylines as they get older.

But they can still have a few lines like Steven, Peter and Lucy did when they were younger.

Not if their only remaining parent has left the soap they can't. Ship Bianca's lot off to their many, various alleged fathers and be done with them. There's no 'fair' or 'cute' about it. The several hundred links to clips of 'cute kids that I like' in this thread pertain to kids that had a parent or guardian on the soap, not one where the only thing keeping them in the show is thankfully leaving.

Yes, obviously they'd have a few lines if (like I said!) they're in filler scenes.
Also like I've already said, in my opinion I just don't find kids in soaps interesting to watch until they get into their teens, the younger ones only seem to be used to add pointless filler that really doesn't make any difference to the episodes.

BIB - Exactly. Like I said before, kids in soaps are purely there as an attachment to their parents until they become old enough to carry off a storyline of their own, there's little point to them otherwise

I told you which soap kids I like, don't mind the babies because they can't talk

Sonia lived on the Square at 13 without Carol so I can see Liam staying behind. Why did Carol let Sonia live in Walford at 13, 14 and 15?
Sonia lived on the Square at 13 without Carol so I can see Liam staying behind. Why did Carol let Sonia live in Walford at 13, 14 and 15?
Sonia lived with Bianca who was in good health. Why would a seriously ill Carol want to be left to bring up Liam? I'd have thought he would have gone with his siblings to help look after them, it would be more in character than suddenly taking a massive interest in school after many years of not giving a damn.
Sonia lived on the Square at 13 without Carol so I can see Liam staying behind. Why did Carol let Sonia live in Walford at 13, 14 and 15?
Once again though, she was staying with a relative, if I recall correctly Bianca? She wasn't living there on her own! Also, case in point, didn't she get pregnant at 15? Hardly a good example of how it could be beneficial to keep a child on in a soap without their parents!
Off the back of that though, that just proves what I was saying - she became a teen and then had her pregnancy storyline which focused around her and the adoption etc. It was only when she grew up she became more interesting, rather than her trumpet playing prior to that.
That's why I said tptb, if they stop with this brat crap I might find the kids bearable.

Well I blame the writing as well. The writing for Simon in Coronation Street is awful and the writing for Gabby in Emmerdale is awful she is 12 and acts younger than her age. I liked the writing for Lucy when Melissa took over because the writers wrote Lucy her age and not like a brat and she started rebelling when she was 11 but then that stopped but she rebelled again at 13, 14, 15 and 16. If you were EP would you write Tiffany and Morgan better or if you are producer of Coronation Street would you write Simon a bit better than he is? I think Tiffany is 10 times better when she not in a scene with Morgan or any other children and just adults like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eog5PwmXlE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvOonLFKJCA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8stIlG7a2Ag https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ufo7K69Bvk8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax5CUdSw_as
