new shuffle refuses to sync with iTunes (etc)

My iTunes account on my mac is linked to a shuffle and has been working fine (apart from account being hacked recently :mad:).
This morning I attempted to add another, new shuffle to the same iTunes account on the same mac. It set up fine and I created an account with new details as suggested by iTunes support.
I then copied about 20 tracks to the new ipod before it gave me the error message "the ipod cannot be synced. Required disk cannot be found". The old shuffle appears to have been deleted as well.

Can anyone help please?
