that is the TV in question, i want to know whether the 50Hz HDTV signals used by sky will work on it, as it is sold in the US, although the PDF manual states somewhere "fv 50-75Hz" in the input signal section in the specifications page, could this mean vertical frequency?

The specs for the HD input focus on 60Hz which is what you would expect for a US panel but this is a PC monitor so like most it is far more flexible than a LCD TV.
So in relation to the spec I would say "fv: 50-75Hz" does give the range for the vertical frequency BUT that doesn't mean the panel could accept a 50Hz HD resolution source.
Might be worth asking in the US based AVSForum.
