This weeks moment from history was going to be Nigel Lawson's tax cutting Budget of 1988, which caused uproar in the House, but its not on Youtube as a radio clip. Instead, heres a moments reflection on the most recent Autumn Statement, which has a good snipe at both Osborne and Balls:

They're even power washing the pavement in Downing St now. Larry the cat has just run off in disgust.

Can only hope Larry got inside and did some of his own spraying....and worse. Imagine the MPs all sitting there eyeing each other up and saying "Jeez is that you?"

Will EM be allowed to go on the economy during PMQs or is there an unwritten rule about not doing that?

You would think it must have passed someone's mind to drop a stinkbomb during it all.

I'm sure he's allowed to, just not bring up anything from the budget.

I wonder if Ed Balls is prepared this time. His last performance was terrible.

I take it the personal allowance increasing is the best I can hope for.

The only thing that's likely to get the economy moving is a big move on the part of the Chancellor. A bold, drastic initiative. Sadly, I think we'll have a rather underwhelming budget that treads water.

Not a good tactic if anything he says or claims is contradicted when the Budget Speech is given.

But he is free to ask anything he likes within the bounds of reason.

I'm on NMW, so good news for me right now. So those 'bloody tories', as people put it, better continue to be good to me.

Wonder if Ed Miliband can get through his 6 questions today without mentioning the Dowlers or the McCanns

I wish he would just stop saying "tax cut for millionaires". It strikes of desperation.

The leaks suggest that George will abandon the increase in Beer Duty

Apparently this will apply to the White, Red and Rosé Ale that hard working families have with Dinner

He is not the only one - too much of last year's budget unraveled the weeks after - so Osbourne needs to be on the top of his game as well.

In the olden days Chancellors used to resign if there was any 'Budget Leak'...............nowadays it just seems accepted practise that they leak any 'good news' in the days leading up to the budget so they can get a couple of days of favourable headlines before the s**t hits the fan on Budget Day..........
