Connecting soundbase query

Hi

Got an old Sony TV, kdl32s3000, & am thinking of getting a Sony xt1 soundbase.

Had a look at the xt1 online manual & am a wee bit confused at to how it would connect up as the TV doesn't appear to have either a an optical digital audio out terminal or an arc Hdmi terminal.

All external devices, bluray etc would go into the xt1 via Hdmi but how would it then connect up the TV? Is it a case of sticking an Hdmi from the xt1 into the Hdmi sockets on the TV and seeing if that works?

Any advice appreciated.

You could connect your HDMI devices via the soundbase and then on to the TV. The soundbase then acts as the input selector for the TV. However that would not give you any audio from the TV's built in tuner should you use that.

If you do want audio from the TV you will need a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to two phono plug lead. Plug the jack into the Analogue Input on the soundbase and the phonos into the analogue output on the TV (between the PC socket and SCART sockets at the bottom of the rear panel).

That should give you audio from anything connected to the TV as well as the built in tuner.
