If Undertaker wins that match, they'll have thrown away both the rub of defeating the unbeatable Lesnar AND the rub of breaking the streak, which is something like 25 years of work to get a combined total of 0 people more over than they were before.

What would be the point in bringing taker back for Summerslam if he wasent going over? The way they made a big deal out of mania how it went down for Brock to just go over again would be pretty pointless. Why bring Taker back if hes not getting his win back.

As a cheap ploy to boost interest in the show.

Why give him his win back?

its odd that alot of fans who treat wrestling like a sport just cannot enjoy it like a sport?

if 2 legends/veterens faced off in boxing or mma you wouldnt get half the backlash you do in wrestling.

just sit back and enjoy 2 big stars facing off?

People on here aint got nothing better to do that moan about the whole thing. Its not like they are out there with a 20+ career in wrestling and make sarcastic comments when they see something they dont agree on.

Its great we are getting Brock/Taker II for 2014 - 2015 and im hoping taker wins but everyone else just tends to be bloody miserable because either they dont want to watch it they ve seen it before or cant handle the fact the big guys are enjoying what they are doing and you ll get someone ehining about about how this was someone elses spot.

Loved it when Rock squashed Punk because it shut them up!

Yeah why did the truck even have all that crap in it, they could have drove it away and Vince being escorted by secruity in his own company?

Right so let's put this BS to bed shall we?

It's not like you have ran a wrestling company for 33 years but you've spent the last week criticising Vince McMahon for his reaction to Hulk Hogan because you see something you don't agree on.

So why can you do that but people who haven't wrestled can't criticise a match? Please explain.

My guess would be that taker is getting his win back. It might even have been agreed as a condition of letting the streak go.

I don't buy that WWE can even conceive of thinking that far ahead.

hollie-any idea how nxt does every week?[/QUOTE]
    Firstly what fans are these?

Secondly since one of the concerns that has been raised is that The Undertaker/Lesnar match won't actually be very good surely that is people treating it like a sport and not enjoying it because of that? To use your MMA or boxing example, if two major stars were paired up in either of those but the expectation was that it'd be a rubbish fight I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be a whole lot of enthusiasm for it. Also since another concern that has been raised is The Undertaker's age and physical condition surely that is once again people treating it like a sport?

On a related note how many boxing or MMA fans do you suppose would be hugely excited about the prospect of a 50 year old man returning for one more fight? Particularly if said 50 year old man has had a 30 year career during which he's amassed several serious injuries and is just generally a bit broken down at this point. Add into that that during his last two fights he didn't exactly look brilliant and during his public appearances to promote this upcoming fight he's looked everyone of his 50 years.

Finally two big stars don't a story make and as I repeatedly pointed out the week of Undertaker's return the story they're actually running with for this does not work for me at all.

The pushing of younger stars was surely due to the majority leaving for guaranteed Ted Turner paid contracts. Things like disagreements, age etc didn't help, but unlike today Vince had his hand forced. In a six year span between 1992 and 1998 they lost at least 15 one time headliners from the roster. It would be interesting to see how much they'd have pushed Cena and Batista had Austin, Rock and Lesnar not called it quits a year or so earlier, with little of chance of returning.
No it was all Russo don't you know!

With that said I tend to agree with you. Vince's history suggests he only makes new stars when his hand is forced by the old stars no longer being available to him.

Plus you'd like to think that if they did the story they were telling wouldn't have quite so many holes.

I feel like now is the time to point out that NI's North Coast is a designated site of outstanding natural beauty by UNESCO or someone, which I'm sure Vince would care a lot about.
