Slightly ot but how is it decided which prison that inmates go when they are sentenced ?. Watkins is Welsh and the article says he is in Wakefield in Yorkshire.

Wakefield specialises in these kind of particular depraved deviants.
Prisoners serving over five years primarily for sexual offences or those who have previously committed sexual offences.

Ahh right sorry I skim read the article . I know that people convicted of crimes where they are adjudged to not be a threat to the public eg fraud often go to open prisons ?

prisoners in for minor offences are meant to be sent as close to home as possible. But category A prisoners tend to be moved from prison to prison, and tough luck, and as Jackie says, prisoners convicted of major sexual offences tend to get Wakefield.
Women prisoners can actually have a worse time because there are so few women's prisons, so they may be hundreds of miles away from home.
Leyhill Prison in Wotton Under Edge is the place to go, I reckon. How bad could a prison be in Wotton Under Edge? And they always submit an ornamental garden to the Chelsea Flower Show, which has a nice fresh air sound to it. Not that someone like Watkins will ever get within distant sniffing distance of it, unless he gets to serve the final two minutes of his sentence there.
Yes, and also Mairead Philpott and Mick Philpott more recently. Although they didn't harm their children he definitely controlled everything that happened and their lifestyle, i.e. the forced dogging, etc., which is very indicative of this personality defect.
I know what you meant, but you might want to rephrase that.
I really wish I'd not given in to morbid curiosity and read the trial transcript. Shit. It's bad. I did the same with the R. Budd Dwyer link someone posted in a thread about shocking videos a few months ago.
I absolutely regret reading the judges summing up.
I am without words about the whole thing now
Yep, and I'm not easily shocked. Usually I'd say that people of this nature need to live with themselves but I think the only hope for him now is death. He is a sick f**k. And the mothers are pretty much on his level now too.
Oi, Wakefield itself is a decent enough small city, except on Friday and Saturday nights when it's over run with half dressed, drunken fat chavs and chavettes all intent on jumping each other's bones.
But yeah, the prison does house some of the most depraved people in England and Wales. The prison is right in the city centre, next to the main train station. You very often see those high security prison vans driving around too.

I'm kidding, I live quite near it. The Hop is good and there's some little gem restaurants there but yes, Westgate on a weekend night is rougher than a badger's stubbly arse.

Horrible. Some people are beyond redemption.
In a way, the mothers are worse. He's a sick man with unhealthy and illegal interests. They should have told him to eff off and reported him, not acquiesced to his demands. Where was their maternal instinct? How could they harm their babies to please him?

I seem to be going against the tide here, but after reading the judge's summary I felt relieved that it wasn't any worse. Don't get me wrong, it was appalling stuff but I was afraid that it might have been more sadistic.

It helps give a better and clearer understanding of just how the sentencing was 'totted up'. A few people were saying it was too long and that made me decide to read through it. It wasn't just one sentence for one offence, there were numerous offences.

The only thing worse would have been if he'd actually succeeded with that poor little boy.
It was one of the most horrific things I've ever read, the only thing that hurt my heart more was reading the baby P case,

We don't know that he didn't. They accepted his plea to attempted rape to prevent a jury being traumatised by having to view the video to determine whether it was rape or attempted rape. He was originally charged with rape so the prosecution must have thought that might be sustainable.
It is stomach churning but important that the facts are out there as otherwise he and the women might, like Myra Hindley, try to downplay their participation in 19 or 20 years.
I was more than disgusted to see that the mega lolz t shirt he wore sold out on Amazon after his case. Why anybody would want to be associated in any way to that monster makes me sad for the state of humanity in this world.

They should all be named as far as I'm concerned and sterilised, disgusting excuses for women and mothers.

His own clothing company is still earning him money too.

Naming the mothers, as has been said several times throughout this thread and others, would take away the victims' anonymity which they are entitled to.

I do understand that and I know it's a double edged sword but as much as their victims deserve anonymity they as the perpetrators do not.

Because he's not the only one who thinks what he did was no big deal. There are plenty of other people waking about who are child abusers, after all.
Not that I imagine that everyone who bought one is a child abuser, of course. There will always be odious halfwitted oiks whose main amusement in life is to go out of their way to be repellent and to shock other folk.

It would do, as that's where me ex lives
Sorry.
I need a slap. Or therapy.
Watkins is a monster.
Yes, you're absolutely right - that was very badly phrased. I should have put "didn't abuse their children".
Hardly Z list. Lostprophets sold millions of albums and played in arenas.
