  Turn the machine on - at the top of the screen are some icons - one is a box with a smiling face - click on it
  
  NB You need to be connected to the internet
  
  Then click on register friend add off you go.
  
  If people have added your wife's code she will see them on the list - otherwise they are greyed out

  No you can put anything it will change when they accept but I always made it similar so I know who it was until accepted
