  You'll be very impressed with the Directors Cut.
  
  Certainly helps with the film especially explaining how Balian is such an expert in sieges.

  The directors cut is very good, it's about 45mins of extra footage which add so much to the movie.

  Agree - Directors Cut takes it up into a different class - the Eva Green character has a more prominant role and it really adds a lot of story in.
  
  Also a very interesting example when comparing the two versions, of how clever editing can really alter a movie.
  
  Having said that, after watching the Prometheus making of - the same editor can be seen making cuts for all the wrong reasons - there was a (sort of) good movie in there somewhere but for some reason getting it below 2 hours was seen as a good thing.
