I suppose if we had legalisation, or more decriminalisation then it would also be far easier to produce some form of "official" guidance on safe (as can be) usage and consumption of cannabis.

Maybe (like in Holland) where each strain has to be listed to show their typical strength (THC percentage) and that all strains have to be under a certain strength of THC content?.

I think, once you're 18, or your brain is more or less fully developed, do what you like, smoke in moderation if you like it. I used to like it, don't any more. Don't see what harm is done by someone smoking a spliff with Eastenders.

Your brain doesn't stop developing at 18.. More like mid twenties

If someone invented tobacco now it would certainly be banned.

    Very biased article.

The one question that has yet to be asked (and I can't imagine why not): Is it the case that cannabis turns "normal" people into "bad" people, or is it more of the fact that these "bad" people are naturally more inclined to take cannabis.

Think about it: the people that commit these crimes are likely to be of poorer, more isolated background, and therefore more susceptible to taking cannabis. It could be the case that even without cannabis, these people would still perform these crimes.

Also, what about their genes? It may be that there was a history of mental health issues in their family, so this was purely that coming out, rather than the cannabis "Causing" these issues.

    .

Pathetic article. I couldn't even get past the nonsense headline.

"The real mind-blowing terror threat in our midst: cannabis"

Really? Who is taken in by that shite? The simple minded, that's who.

If you admire Littlejohn for being libertarian why are you for the illegalisation of drugs?

This has always been the conservative paradox: anti-government intrusion yet pro-authoritarian.

It's not because Littlejohn is a libertarian that I admire him. It's because he is a brilliant columnist.

Then you would struggle to find the brilliant libertarian that is Littlejohn. His excellent column appears on Tuesday and Friday in The Daily Mail.

Littlejohn is not a libertarian. Would you stop posting shite?

You need to listen to opposite views to yours.

(Still at least you are one person to admit you wouldn't even read it)

I will listen to evidence and there is zero credible evidence that cannabis turns a normal healthy mind into an unhealthy mind any more than violent video games do.

If so then calling him 'the brilliant libertarian' in your previous post was a bit redundant to the topic at hand.

Don't worry, I'm sure Hitchens is against those too.

    As well as grossly inaccurate

Probably the same kind of person blaming violent video games and movies every time there is a mass shooting in the US.

Littlejohn is indeed a libertarian. It's just that you were unaware of that fact.

It's gratifying to know my posts increase people's knowledge of various things.

You might want to look up libertarianism and classic liberalism again.

A pale shadow of his brilliant brother

His brother certainly turned into a hawk after 9/11 (and some would say racist) and joined with the neo-cons in their desire for the Iraq war.

Peter was of course against it. He is more anti - war - as anyone would know if they read the short piece after the cannabis viewpoint.

Everything they have done is a consequence of prohibition as we know from prohibition in the 30s.

Either him being libertarian is irrelevant, or it's relevant. If it's the latter I refer you to my original post pointing out the contradiction of being anti-government yet also pro-illegalisation of drugs.

I have never witnessed those people eating jaffa cakes, although I'm sure it happens.
