Have really enjoyed the Moffatt/Smith era but, like many others, have been irritated by the introduction of elements of romance in the Doctor/companion relationship dating back to Tennant and Piper. It is much more fun when there is an element of tension and bewilderment in the relationship with companions.
Mind you, I may not be representative given that I found the emergence of Colin Baker's Doctor a welcome relief after the blandorama of the Davison era.
