When making The Misfits - which was the last film of both Clark Gable (swoon) and Marilyn Monroe, filming in the desert was very demanding. Frank Sinatra had a club nearby and offered to put on a party for the cast of The Misfits. Clark Gable asked if the crew were invited too, and when told that they weren't and the party was just for the cast, he said he wouldn't go, because in his opinion, the crew deserved to go to the party. Sinatra had to backtrack and invite the crew as well, because he really wanted Gable there

But on the subject of Clark Gable, he did threaten to walk off the set of Gone With The Wind, because he objected to there being separate toilets for the black actors and the white actors. He also threatened to boycott the premiere, because the black actors in the film weren't allowed to attend, due to segregation laws. Hattie McDaniel persuaded him that he should attend, which is why he did. (McDaniel went on to win Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, the first black person to win an Oscar.)

I didn't know any of this about Gable. Sounds like a decent guy with principals that he was willing to stand up for.
Not a common thing in the industry at that time.:(

In "The Fog" (1980) the director John Carpenter played the part of the handyman who doesnt get his wages from the priest at the begining of the movie.
The directors wife Adrienne Barbeau, played Stevie Wayne, the lady in the radio stn.
After a rough cut editing the movie appeared to be much too short for a theatrical release (about 80 minutes), John Carpenter subsequently added the prologue with the Old Captain telling ghost stories to fascinated children by a campfire.

Also in "The Fog" Janet Leigh's character is seen taking part in a pageant which sets off but is never seen again. The budget ran out before the payoff scenes could be shot.

In "C.H.U.D." the shock end sequence of the diner being attacked was a last minute addition and uses footage from a much earlier scene.

In "Dead And Buried" producers' meddling and rearranging scenes means people who died in one scene are later clearly visible alive and well.

Also in Roman Holiday, when Gregory Peck put his hand into the mouth of truth, and pretended that it had been bitten off, that was unscripted. Audrey Hepburn's shriek when he pretends his hand is bitten off, is genuine.

They copied this idea when making 'Pretty Woman'.

Julia Roberts was not aware when Richard Gere shows her the rented necklace that he would shut the box on her hand.

Christopher Lee (Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun) is a distant cousin to Ian Fleming - the creator of Bond.

Yes - this is probably here already but I'm a little too squiffy at the moment to trawl through all the pages here.
