Samsung D500- Photo/Video problems

My D500 is refusing to allow me to take any photos or videos. When I choose to take a photo it returns to the wallpaper screen and when I choose to take a video an exclamation mark appears and then the phone returns to the main menu. Is there any way to remedy this?
