I believe John lennon was just coming back from the wilderness years and would have peaked as a solo song writer and singer had he not been shot.

[Amy Winehouse] had given up drinking apart from the binge that killed her

That sounds contradictory to me. I think that the tabloids may have exaggerating the stories of how she was on the verge of turning her life around, to add more tragedy to her death.

    What happened to sharon tate?

She and three friends, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski and Jay Sebring (and a young man visiting the guest house, Steven Parent) were not just murderedmbut slaughtered by followers of Charles Manson on his instructions. It was a random killing, Manson wanted to 'teach Hollywood a lesson' because he had failed to get a record deal.

It was probably one of the worst crimes in history. I'd advise you not to google image "the Manson murders" unless you like seeing pictures of people including a pregnant Sharon stabbed multiple times.

Manson didn't directly kill them but he was the leader of a cult and if not for him, Tex Watson, Pat Krenwinkel and Susan Atkins would never have gone up there to kill.

Don't know if the actor John Cazale has been mentioned. Starred in some classic films of the 70s first two Godfathers, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon and I believe died before the release of his last film The Deer Hunter. :(

The only actor to have every film he appeared in nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. A sad loss, who knows what he might have achieved.

Another guitar great who went too soon - Jeff Healey

That's a very good call. He left quite a legacy.

I've always felt that some of those films and the performances of their stars are somewhat over-rated, John Cazale himself was the best thing about them.

Not quite at the peak, but the stunning (both in talent and looks) Andy Whitfield who played the lead role of Spartacus in thec'Spartacus' series - http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=andy+whitfield&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=sRU_UdeoLcjB7AbvwYD4CA&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=768&bih=928

He sadly died of cancer before the last series was made. He was a brilliant actor and I believe he would have become very big in Hollywood within a couple of years.

Extremely sad that he died well before his time, I believe he had sooooo much more to offer :(

Well it was actually Mitch who said that she was turning her life around..

imho Amy's peak was circa 2007/8..if i remember correctly that was when she broke America, won the grammys and was in the papers nearly every other day for her erratic behaviour

wasnt Minnie Riperton career just starting when she died

Good call for Jimi Hendrix- I wonder if we'll ever get to the bottom of that.

There were rumours he was murdered because his body was saturated in red wine- more than he was known to have drunk that night.
