If you imagine how many flats could fit in a cinema, the value of most London cinemas must be in the tens of millions. How much money do they have to take to justify staying open when they could make a fortune by closing down?
In fact Picturehouse promised to open a cinema in my local high street but it's never happened, probably because the owners of the property can make more money turning it into flats.
Fortunately it isn't as simple as that.
Odeon Kensington is under threat from developers, but bless the council who rejected their plans which didn't fulfil the sires' "cultural offer".

I was shocked when I saw that on their site the other day. £10 is crazy. It's cheaper to buy insurance and claim Meerkat Movies 2-for-1!
