I have reached that age (35) where I don't get music anymore I stopped listening in 2005 but I was in someone's car on Monday they had Capital on and the first song was a song with a woman whose voice was autotune and a rapper, the second song a woman whose voice was autotune and a rapper and so on and so on it was all the same I just don't get today's music where is the variety its all the same.

In the 80's and 90's there were different types of dance but it all sounds the same now, why does every song have to have a rapper on it or use autotune.

This has been going on for about 5 years now when will something new come along?

This mentality was summed up by Conan O'Brien in his spoof of Rebecca Black's Friday.

"Why is there a rapper here? Why am I even here? Did I just rhyme here with here? I am getting out of here..."

"That was a rapper which makes this a real song..."

Those two monkeys on East Mids breakfast make me want to go on a shooting rampage. Zero raport, laughing at each others' crap jokes, full to the brim of cliches.

For example they've got this "if we see our sticker in your car we'll give you cash" things and a few weeks ago they announced the registration and also described the car, it went like this:

Him - "...and it's in a silver Suzuki turbo..." (emphasis on the 'turbo')
Her - "a turbo? OoooOOOooo, how posh!"
Him - "Very posh! Whoever they are, I bet they don't even need the money!"

Honestly it would have taken a thousand men to stop me from slapping them both.

The music is getting even tighter - 156 unique tracks last month! http://comparemyradio.com/stations/Capital_FM

Fair enough, in short bursts the idea is you're gonna tune in and hear your favourite hit music track but god help anyone listening in work all day!

Also, I realise 'The Wanted' are signed to Global's music talent division, but they are taking promotion of them wayyy too far. They are being 'challenged' by Rich Clarke every night of the week at the moment. They may be popular at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it's because they are being forced down people's throats by Global. They are always being involved in various station promotions; much more than any other artist.

I am actually surprised how bad Twiggy and Emma actually are, as from what I understand as Trent's breakast show hosts they were very popular and the show was very "Nottingham".

But, now it's broadcast to the whole of the East Midlands, to me it seems poor, with little content (I am forced to listen to it whilst taking the kids to school, straight back to Gem or Radio 2 for me as soon as they are out of the car!)

I swear this is true but everytime I have heard Capital (Galaxy) they play that damn "I Wanna Be A Millionaire" is it compulsory to play this song?

Capital and Heart station certainly sem to lead the way in airplay. does anyone dectect the wiff of self serving nepotism in the air when it comes to playlist selection? I'm waiting for someone to record Tabors father drunkenly singing Danny Boy and it it appearing on Classic every hour non stop.

I certainly think that Global Radio need to be investigated here... it's not necessarily Payola, but something's amiss. I would regard having a music label and a network of very aggressively-run radio stations a serious conflict of interest.

Fair point, - as long as the situation remains as is there is going to be an air of suspicion around Global's business operations and objectives in respect to this kind of relationship. Far better that there is a full investigation for both those with concerns and for Global to be able to address those valid concerns.

I don't understand why all the different Capital FMs don't have the exact same information on that Compare My Radio? Surely they're all playing the same song at pretty much the same time - Apart from the Birmingham&Scotland opt-out 2-6 on Saturday morning? Why do they even need the 9 different versions on there?

And GlideFM played The Wanted nearly 70 times more than any other station...

They have the envious talent of giving the impression of putting in long hours of research of how to annoy their listeners. Sure they sound like nice enough people but every day Twiggy tries his hardest to come across as "Wahey, one of the lads!" when in fact he sounds more like a middle-class middle aged Dad trying to look cool in front of his kids.

Emma sounds like she's had a note passed to her during the show saying "Make this link sound funny otherwise the kitten dies".

They play Adele's music every 5 minutes which in itself is depressing enough and yes that f***ing Millionaire song is played all the time too.

OK, I listen to Crapital but only due to lack of choice.

Ahhh The Wanted, at one point Capital LOVED JLS and had them on in the evenings every week :/

Are Capital still playing The Wanted? I thought they may have removed them because of their Urban-bias.

Heart can't get enough of The Wanted. They seem to play "All Time Low" quite a bit, and none of their other songs..

To be honest, i liked the original Galaxy, but that stations in itself was a let down from Beat 106, and the station has become so non-local now that i just tend to listen to Kiss on DAB ... which beats Capital hands down!

Very true! Kiss 100 is the best CHR station.
I've listened to Kiss and Capital and Kiss beats Capital on every level.
The music, the presenters and the imaging!
The imaging is where Kiss kills Capital. T
he branded intros, station edits and promos are much better.
In an interview I watched with Dave Foxx from Z100, he said the imaging should be a little faster paced then the music the station plays, and Capital seem to be doing the opposite. IMO, they need a package like the new XFM one.

I'm gob smacked that these comments have not recieved ONE response from JoeyDecon, WBOY or nobjockey to name but three, they are usually very keen to support Global but on this area silence....any comments on the subject boys?

I have to totally agree that Kiss 100 is wiping the floor with Capital at the moment.

Music, Processing, Specialist Output, Imaging, Talent... On every criteria it's just leagues ahead.

You can't say Capital is doing CHR well compared to Kiss.

I doubt it'll happen but I'd love to see Kiss 100 win the London CHR wars.

It has that sense of feeling that it's a London station. If you know what I mean. However, we have Capital starting to take it's focus away from that and act as a quasi-national network.

And yet, Kiss still pumps out loads of specialist stuff. Most of the specialist stuff on Galaxy got chopped with the name.

It will be interesting to see whether Capital's significantly tighter playlist and more mainstream sound can dent Kiss' figures at all when the next RAJARs come out in just under a month.

I have to say the sound of KISS is absolutely brilliant. The imaging as many have said is very fast and slick whereas the Capital jingles sound like I'm listening to a station who has kept its imaging from the 90s. Not nice.

Recently with the warm weather, KISS have done what Galaxy used to do, they were the sunshine. The day sounded warmer with Galaxy on your radio. They knew how to work it.

Keep it Capital? Not for me, thank you. This ex-Galaxy Yorkshire listener has found KISS. The bonus is for me is it has finally made me convert over to DAB. Just the car left to do!

The PURE Highway is there for that; although you probably will want to just wait for the DAB-equipped cars to come out and just wait to upgrade to a new car later on.

I think that's just because of their tight playlists though, compare:

    http://comparemyradio.com/artists/JLS
    http://comparemyradio.com/artists/Bruno_Mars

The Wanted currently have the 7th most played track on Capital FM Manchester (after 2 Pink tracks) and the 13th on Heart Berkshire (behind 2 Adele tracks and 2 Michael Buble tracks). I choose Manchester and Berkshire because they were highest on your original link.

Not to say that there isn't a conflict of interest, just that it's not as simple as looking at how often they play the tracks.

I was looking at the plays compared to stations owned and operated by other radio groups - such as Bauer.Overall Global stations seem to lead the pack by miles in terms of plays.

Yes, but your assumption was that this is because they are biased towards their own band. If that is the case, then why do global dominate the tables for bands they don't manage too?

Dave Kelly is a brilliant signing for Radio City.

    Nice one Ewan! ;)
