I guess she's not a huge celeb but I know Julia Hardy who hosts Gameface on Challenge and DJs on Totalrock radio on tuesdays. She does other bits and bobs too mainly in the gaming and music industry, we text now and then.
Although I do know someone that was an actor on a crimewatch re-enactment.
I can top that for obscurity value.
I know someone who got a part on a Crimewatch-style show (can't remember which one but it was some kind of true crime re-enactment thing) playing a witness. When she watched it her face had been pixillated for authenticity!

I'm very distantly related to the swimmer Duncan Goodhew but have never met him.
My second-cousin is a journalist/author whose first published book was a brilliant book about Fred and Rose West.I recently worked with one of the vets who used to be on Animal Hospital!
I have read that book it is brilliant .
I went to school with the actor who played the first sidekick detective in Midsummer Murders. When we were in Geography he told me he wanted to be an actor. I said ' What do u want to do that for'?:p he is a lovely lad Daniel Casey. He has also been in a Catherine Cookson film.
I am also friends with all of the Chawner family ( Lorraine kellys big fat challenge family) on facebook, ohhhh and Marcus from BB9 is a facebook friend . Do they count ?
Poppy10 - I hope we're talking about the same book as there have been several about the Wests but Howard's was definitely the best! He's also written a fantastic biography of Bob Dylan (as well as other books). Sadly, I haven't seen Howard since we were teenagers, many years ago.

Is it Howard Souness ? I have read every book about the Wests and Fred and Rose was the best one.
Grew up living very close indeed to somebody who later became relatively famous (in this country anyway) and v. wealthy. I played in his house and garden a few times.
I don't have very much positive to say about him, and won't say anything negative, since he seems quite keen on suing.
Poppy - yes, but with only one 's' at the end of his name! His mum and mine were cousins. He really is a great writer and I'm not just saying that because we're related

I knew/know Sheridan Smith. She's from the same town as me. We used to compete in local dance competitions and was in shows together when we little. She won everything naturally and was great. Everyone knew she would be a big star.
I met Chris Gascoyne who plays Peter Barlow in Corrie a few times, and he bought me a hot chocolate in Salford uni canteen. Does that count as knowing someone? because it's my claim to fame anyway. I tell everyone, and he did know my name
Before he went back to Corrie. He taught a class and was a guest speaker at Salford university when I was a student there.
I wasn't in any of his classes and was so gutted, but I met him in the canteen, were he hung out alot not teaching I might add, and he bought me my hot chocolate as an alternative to being in his class. He was lovely and gave me some very good advice on a project and followed it up as well a couple of days later and saw my show, which was a really nice thing to do.
He was very cool and gave similar time to everyone there. He left Salford to go back to Corrie within days of that.
He told me he'd just met his screen son and it was like going up against a 'mini Robert De niro ', that turned out to be Simon Barlow lol:D
me too. Absolutely loved that song, I hadn't heard it for ages until it popped up on one of the music channels not so long ago. Still as good a tune now as it was back then.
Whilst he's quite famous and very wealthy, I doubt many people are that interested in him!
I thought he was alright in those days, but as I got older I heard a few less than lovely things about the way he behaved towards some of our other neighbours. Nothing all that sensational - just not very friendly.
Maybe he was just having a bad day (or several). I'm sure he's lovely really

I think I've got that book, it's really good! (And I'm not just saying that, honest!)

Are you going to watch the drama they are screening in the autumn about Fred and Rose ? I am. I started a thread asking if people are going to watch it in the TV section and it has disapeared into forumn heaven .
I once met Jimi Hendrix (circa 1967) and had a long chat with him. Still have two of his autographs.
Wow, how lucky were you Dilly? I'm green with envy here ~ Jimi's one of my all-time musical heroes! Sadly he died when i was very young and i never came to appreciate his music until i was much older.
I bet he was a really cool guy to just sit and chill with? That's the impression i've always had of him anyway (along with another of my faves, Bob Marley).

Yes, he was really  and wasn't a bit "up himself".
I'm so pleased to hear that Dilly. From the odd bits of footage i've seen of him where he's not performing, he comes across as very humble and almost shy. I'm glad my illusion hasn't been shattered!
Just remembered my Dad telling me that he once met the late, great Sid James back in the 60's, when he was delivering beer to a pub or club (my Dad, that is ~ not Sid!) He insisted on buying my Dad and his workmate a drink and my Dad said he was not only great company, but was completely down-to-earth too and just as comical in real life as he was on screen.
I know an American man who's related to Michelle Pfeiffer, and descended from great American writer Nathaniel Hawthorne.
On this side of the Atlantic, I know a descendant of Nelson.
I myself am related to Paul and Barry Ryan who had a massive hit in the 60s (later covered by The Damned) with Eloise. I loved that song for years - it's always been one of my favourite songs - before I discovered I was related to the Ryan twins. Sadly, one of them, Paul, died of cancer at a young age. Barry is still performing. My grandma remembers their mum Marion Ryan who herself was a popular singer (and had an affair with Frank Sinatra).
Simon Cowell's mum lives really close to me and I see her around with her cute little dog, and have met her (and the dog) so I sort of know her a bit.
I used to know the actor Kieron Forsythe who played Tom Harvey the evil anaesthetist on Casualty. Also actress Nichola Schingler who spent a year as Steve McDonald's girlfriend on Corrie, and who now pops up now and then on things like Holby City.
A friend of mine knows a famous writer, whose name I cannot mention, who is a right cow.
My uncle is embroiled in a dispute over a hedge with a radio DJ, whose name, again, I'd better keep quiet.
I go to a support group for people with depression and there's a woman there who's a professional actress. Obviously, confidential.
Living in Brighton, as I do, you come into contact with a lot of famous people.

Probably never going to get a better opportunity than this, so -
If you speak to Cliff, can you let him know I had sex with my then-girlfriend on his driveway about 9 years ago
Love this!
Inter- selectaa!
Takes me back to my garage youth!!
Don't knock it. My boy would be well impressed.:)
From the front to the back, thats where I was at
