Help to raise funds for Specialist Treatment

Hey

So I need some help and advice on where to find it. Firstly I must state I DONT use facebook or any social media, don't ask me why lol. So my cat Shelly....here is her story and whats led me to here....

In 2011 we noticed Shelly had developed this weird, wonky walk so we took her to our vets and 16 x-rays were done. We got a call after the tests were done only to be told they could not find a thing, no breaks....no fractures. So we were then advised that the only way to get to the route was take her to a specialist. However we opted not to as vets confirmed she wasn't in pain and this walk of hers didn't affect her in the slightest. She could walk, run and jump as normal. Although...she didn't do as much as she did before but the point was she could and we didn't want to go through these tests and put her through that. so we left it by. Come 4 weeks ago in the blink of an eye this weakness/limp suddenly took a turn for the worst, it didn't happen gradual or over the span of a few weeks...it was literally from one morning, to that evening. So back to vets where x-rays were again done. Nothing again so this time we were advised again for the specialist referral. We decided to go for it as her limp had got worse to the point where her left leg would collapse when walking. We are insured however our policy stipulates we pay an excess but also 20% of the total bill. And with cost running near the £2000-4000 mark we could potentially have to pay up to £800 and we just cannot stretch to that.

Vet bills with our normal vet are ok cause 20% doesn't amount to more then £10-50 which is fine but £800...!

So we need help to raise that and would like advice on how to get it. Sadly I was working but got let go due to cut backs. So any advice?

Another option is to leave it and just work with our vets which is hard cause they don't know what it could be so it's a process of elimination in terms of what meds to use.

Maybe approach charities? PDSA may help if you get certain benefits.
But if you are insured they are unlikely to help, especially with that much.

Tough situation, can you not get a loan? Borrow from relatives?
Will the bills stop when you get this treatment?

Could you try another vets, get a second opinion?

If your struggling before you've even got a diagnosis, maybe take a more conservative course of treatment, keep her comfortable and pts when she starts to suffer.

    All the best x
