Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini are famed examples. Then there's of course Robbie Keane, who spent his entire career playing for the team he supported as a boy.

Francesco Totti - AS Roma. 665 games, 279 goals.

    Xavi - Barcelona. 661 games.
    Iniesta - Barcelona. 435 games.

You would assume that Xavi and Iniesta will stay at Barca until they retire.

You could add Carles Puyol to that list.

It's hard to look at current players and see who could spend their entire career at that club. At Liverpool Jordan Henderson has potential to be a great player for us but having been at Sunderland previously he can't be a one club player.

Players in lower leagues might not have such trouble though.

    Liverpool and Celtic?

I don`t think he spent much of his career playing for those particular clubs. In fact he has probably spent more time with LA Galaxy than he did with both of those clubs combined.

    Alan Knight at Portsmouth

Andy Awford at Portsmouth although his career was cut short by injury but he's still at the club on the coaching staff.

He didn't play for entirely one club, but Steve Bull played all but 30 of his 500 games at Wolves and had the chance to move on numerous occasions but stayed loyal.

For us (Watford) Kenny Jackett and Nigel Gibbs.

List of highest number of games for one club here (bit out of date though):

For my team the most obvious would be Matt Le Tissier. However, many would argue that Francis Benali was also a loyal player starting at the youth team in 84 all the way through to 2004 with only a very brief loan spell to Forrest. He retired from Southampton but then joined Eastliegh two years later for only a just over 20 appearances.

You see, when Robbie Keane signs for a new team he tends to... never mind.

Bill Nicholson - 314 League games for Spurs between 1938–1955 (then 15 years as manager 1958 - 1974). Has a unique international record - played once only for England scoring one goal with his first touch.

And David Bentley some say has only ever played for Blackburn! ;)
