My husband would never go into my purse to get some money unless he was told by me to do it.

I think it has happened once when carol singers knocked at the door and I told him to look for change in my purse - but it has never happened since.

It would be annoying if I opened my purse to get money for the pay & display, or a vending machine, and found that my husband had taken my change without asking. I think a word would be had!

He would ask beforehand out of courtesy though, or tell me he'd done it if it was an emergency. He'd probably offer to put the money back so as not to inconvenience me.

I think that is the thing. I think you should ask before you take. Otherwise it just inconveniences people the next day.

It's never bothered me though he often shouts when going out the door "I've took a fiver and going to the shops"
