Will this coming Saturday be the first live show, if so looking forward to it. Hope there will be more interesting input from Tony and not just those boring comments about it being the third of six top ten hits by someone or other, which is exactly what Dale always said, obviously coming from Phil Swern. Let's hope Tony gets more of a free rein.
Hi North,
I understand it is the first live POTP's and it ties in with Tony's birthday...
Recorded programmes can and do work when they are produced like SOTS or the specialist programmes like Russell Davies because they say more than just this is and that was and give time checks. Like you I hope more can be said between the discs but sometimes they struggle to get all the music into the two hours anyway because it isn't two hours...its more like 110 minutes once the news and traffic information and programme trailers are taken out.
Hopefully a live POTP will include fewer mistakes that seem to have crept in since Blackburn took over
R2 are currently running a promo for the show with some old R1 jingles re-done very well for R2. I have no idea who the guy is who is talking about his favourite year of 1980 & suggesting that Tony features 1980.
A very good promo for 1980 is let down by the first song used in the promo...Chic-Good Times...from 1979
Ok, it's only a bit of the intro they use, but with the resources R2 has this kind of thing shouldn't happen, just like claim that Hot Chocolates you sexy thing was a #1 or playing Darts-it's raining instead of Shakin Stevens.

I heard that promo earlier today and was also very impressed with those "revamped" versions of the old R1 jingles. The guy talking about his favourite year of 1980 is Trevor Nelson.
I agree with your point about the use of Chic's "Good Times" too. It would have been perhaps more fitting to include a clip of "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang instead considering that it was still in the Top 40 in January 1980. Incidentally Chic's "My Feet Keep Dancing" was still in the Top 40 in the first few weeks of January 1980.
It was brilliant, new jingles PAMS ones like Big L Radio London, e mails, texts, all excellent, essential listening every Saturday, check the I Player for those who missed it.
He did mention after the traffic was read after 2pm.. " Someone asked him if he was live to prove he's talking with Bobbi ( Traffic Girl )" That would never happen!!
Messrs Wolfert & England I'm sure will be happy to point out that the Tony Blackburn PAMS resings were done by S2Blue, licensed by JAM Creative Productions, Dallas, Texas.
Not Wise Buddah or Groove.
That 'right, MBessex?!?!

Absolutely . . . .
The INTRO jingle is Wise Buddah - the rest are PAMS resings done by S2Blue of Leek (UK) licensed by JAM in Dallas . . . .

Sorry there was a stray "s" on the word jingle.
Correct, All the new jingles for the live show starting this week were wonderfully sung by S2Blue. and the top of the hour Pick of the Pops jingle that launches into the theme is a Groove Addicts/ worx jingle.
Are we all clear and happy?
And yes the Groveworx site is a pain in the *** to navigate
I thought yesterday's was one of the best...tightly produced and presented, great music and love those jingles...as old as the orginals were they still sound good and I'd happily use them on Radio 2 as a station ID not just on POTP's.
