If we count from his first proper starring episode, Capaldi will surely be the oldest 'new' Doctor, won't he? And if he stays on for 3 years, he'll become the eldest 'currently serving' Doctor ever?

William Hartnell was 55 years 10 months when his first episode aired. Peter will be 56 years 7 months if they air in Nov 2014

    67 days to go!

Remember the old days of this thread when Webby would always do a countdown to the new series or special with a daily link to something cool? I miss that. We should at least try to have a 30-day countdown to the anniversary.

    66 Days to go

Just a little something to tide you over until 50 minus 30 ;)

If anyone comes across a suitable link, send it over :)

Or, if I get enough links, it could be a 50 day countdown to start on 4 October :D

My Second Doctor Costume is coming on well; I hope to wear it to the convention. It only needs a few tweaks here and there and I'm done! :)

One thing, the tie is entirely too straight! Have you tried soaking it in vinegar? :D

Going by the picture, I'll need to get a bigger one ;)
Either that, or my obsession with DW has led to me lusting after bigger and bigger bow ties. Yeah, probably just that :p

I would like a hat like that.

    Thanks CHJ and Granny :)

I have a recorder, but what I really need to get is a Moeck soprano recorder; it's the same as Pat's.

I don't have the hat though, I don't think I will be able to find one the same, which is a pity.

All in all, I need to:

grow my hair a little more, get 2-style hair cut

sew another button on to each cuff of the coat
    sew pockets onto the coat
sew 3 more buttons onto the front of the coat
    Paisley Handkerchief
get a new bow tie, possibly get wider braces
    Brown hush puppies maybe?

    Then I'll be happy.

    Get a Moeck Recorder
    Make a 500- year Diary
Take a pack of playing cards with me to convention

Then I'll be super happy :D

He plays a plain recorder in Fury From The Deep, so it's canon ;) I'll be playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star whilst waiting in queues etc at the convention :D

The 2nd Doctor was known to wear various wacky hats on occasion, though. Perhaps you can come close to one of them. Like this one.

That's the hat I was thinking of. It would suit davros, I think. ;):D

On second thought, though, for most of the time he wore no hat at all and he'd probably be more recognisable without one, actually. :o

We're analysing 5 second clips now, for their implications. Does anyone have anything to add?

    Heh. :)

Wasn't expecting anything as I'm not very 'up' on things; and Twitter is what birds do to me, but it was nice to hear Matt's voice and a snippet of the original theme.

Very funny post by 'Lii' on the thread analysing the 'sting's' significance which made me :D .

Also tosses fez in air but can't provide pictorial representation via Android keyboard.

Is this now the official countdown building up to Webby's countdown? Pre-trailer teaser stings are all the rage.

I think Webby should pre-announce an embargoed midnight announcement of a sting preluding the trailer for his countdown.

Whilst you might be hoping for this kind of sting, you are more likely to end up with any one of this motley selection

PS today is 50 to 50 day - 4

That first one was a nice surprise for *us Martin Freeman devotees. Thank you. :)

    (*That's just me, probably :o).

Nice to see Webby and Nebo still around. :)
