I just hope remembers to be funny this series. Maybe I've just tired of his schtick, but it seemed like last series he put so much effort into trying to be clever, he forgot to add any actual humour. When he's clever and funny, he's brilliant.
I saw him live a couple of weeks back. The first thing he said was that what he'll be doing won't be a "proper" stand-up routine, but 3 separate half hour routines, that he's fine-tuning for this new series.
He talked about dogs, pornography and racism.
Very funny stuff. Some bits I'm sure he's done before though.

One of the episodes is likely to be the 'I got nothing' stuff from Carpet Remnant World repackaged, though as he's got too write 6 hours in 2 years it's understandable.

Was that the one where he went on about crisps for 20 minutes? Crisps. He went on about crisps. For 20 minutes. Talking very slowly with a smug grin on his fat face. He kept going on. About crisps. On and on. About crisps. And that only clever sophisticated people can understand how funny he is. But not thick northerners. Oh no. Talking about crisps. On and on. Crisps...
I don't think 'cool' people have used the expression 'right on' for around 40 years.
I thought it was used about the new wave of alternative comics like Ben Elton in the late 80s-in fact I remember Ben himself using the phrase on Friday/Saturday Live, with regard to a proposed investigation into the shooting of three people dead by British forces on Gibraltar.
Really looking forward to this. I absolutely loved the last series and thought it was a vast improvement on Series 1, which was slightly ruined by the sketches imo.
The one where he played the guitar (episode 4 of the last series, I think) was some of the strongest material I've ever seen from him.
I liked the straight-faced interviews with Armando Iannucci and I'm reliably informed that Chris Morris (who's taking over the role from Armando this time) is very good in it too.
Smug, unfunny, tedious, derivative, pseudo-intellectual git without a funny bone in his body.
Just an attempt to get a quote on his website there. Seriously looking forward to this; Love Stewart Lee. One of the best live gigs I've seen was '90's Comedian'. And the Morris interviews should be very interesting.
Excellent news. Was only thinking about him the other day, talking with a friend about comedians we'd like to see more of on telly (and ones we'd like to see less of like Millican and Macintyre).
Not only is Lee very very funny but he also seems to really annoy people who don't get his humour, which is a nice bonus.

Can't wait!
Amen to that!
Right-on!
But it's only clever cool people like us who appreciate his genius.

Well it's back in fashion again, grandad.

I remember the guitar song.
(Sung like Bob Dylan)'...you're a liar. You're a liar-and your pants are on fire!':D
Hate this smug ****.
He's NEVER been funny except to the stuck up middle class labour voting leftie hipster clique.
To be fair, that is quite a large number of people.
Maybe so but he helpfully has catalogued some of the views of those who don't agree on his website.
I think this sums it up beautifully -
"I see Stewart Lee is doing a Bill Hicks tribute act without the funny bits."
I'm not stuck up!
;-)
That is funnier than anything Stewart Lee has ever said or thought.
