    needs more ghosts :D

I doubt we will see it as anything other than a police box - too long an iconic association.

But I believe the human TARDIS angle has been done in the non canon novels.

    Here you go

Compassion (a former member of the Remote) evolved into a TARDIS, the prototype of the sentient Type 102. (EDA: The Shadows of Avalon)

Details and links at the TARDIS entry on the Dr Who Wiki

I'd love to see the kids born from that coupling!

I think the show has always taken or left the sentient and living nature of the Tardis depending on plot requirements of the time. Even my fave Mr. Bidmead conveniently dropped the notion for Frontios (still a cracking story though).

A physical manifestation of that sentience could work. There is a legendry never made script (so may or may not be true) by the fantastic Christopher Priest. Rumour suggests it was going to reveal the Tardis was built around an organic, octopus like, life form.

There is of course the old problem of those Tardis doors - where does the Doctor enter or exit from on the outside?:D

Never... I'm a good boy of the most proper upbringing. ish.

I just can't help but think of the Family Guy epsiode where Lois and Stewie have to escape an alternative dimension via a very unusual portal.

I think Lawrence Miles would explode in a fit of apoplexy.
