The Dandy is getting a new look. For the last three years it's been a fortnightly title named Dandy Xtreme, but now, the Xtreme era is ending. Advert in the current issue:
Desperate Dan: "I'd looove to show you what's happening in the next issue, but it's a secret sooo secret that nobody knows it!"
The Dandy on sale October 27th only £1.50 don't miss it!

That's £1 less than the current issue, and only 15p more than The Beano (wouldn't surprise me if that increases in price to £1.50 that week). There are rumours that it's going back to being weekly.

DC Thompson has announced that The Dandy will relaunch as a weekly comic later this month, Bleeding Cool reports.

The popular children's anthology was rebranded as Dandy XTreme in 2007, but declining sales figures have led to another overhaul.

Costing £1.50 per issue, the revamped Dandy will see a return to its original format and feature strips based on characters old and new.

Andy Fanton's 'George And The Dragon', Lew Stringer's 'Blurp' and Alexander's 'Robot On The Run' will debut in the comic post-relaunch.

First appearing in 1937, The Dandy is Britain's longest-running comic book, and the world's third longest-running behind Il Giornalino and Detective Comics.

The title will relaunch on October 27.

DS reporters, check your facts! The publisher is DC Thomson, not Thompson. But that typo isn't the worst of it. A file being called blurP.jpg does not mean that the character is called Blurp! It was a blurred picture on artist Lew Stringer's blog of a character whose name begins with P. In future, please check with other sources - i.e. the artist himself. Bleeding Cool got it wrong. Also, it's the world's third oldest comic book still in production, not the third longest running. The Beano has had more issues than any of them, having overtaken The Dandy in December 2008.

"Blurp" turned out to be Postman Pratt. And the new cover star? None other than Harry Hill! He has a four page story inside. Bananaman has a new look (he changed artist) and Desperate Dan is still present - and Korky's back! Go out and buy The Dandy #3508 everyone! :)
