Debbie-Big drama ahead for Debbie- she's an incredible versatile actress who's given a heartbreaking poignant portrayal of young mother fighting for her daughter- mainly by shouting at people who are entirely blameless for what's happened to Sarah- namely everyone
Spencers-We're going to see a new side to the Spencers-they've been a fabulous addition so far- No one's ever worn a hat like Sean and Ali's amazing, whether bullying Nikhil or pretending she can read- they've been a revalation
Chas-Chas's love life is going to get complicated- mainly cause she's going to get her claws in to Cameron and probably Carl again
Declan-Exciting times ahead in Home Farm as we prepare for the concert where nothing could possibly go wrong and that will not end in a disaster around the time of our 40th anniversary
Adam- it's going to be such a huge year for him- with Aaron gone we're going to focus all our surly immature writing on Adam now- expect him to start several pointless feuds with people who didn't actually wrong him in any way and maybe set fire to garage again
Ashley/ Laurel/ Marlon- exciting times ahead- there are no bad guys in this- except of course Ashley who is obviously the bad guy and will continue to be written that way- also how romantic are Marlon and Laurel
Amy- as soon as we can sort it with Jill Halpenny, Amy's mother is going to be arriving in the village
Diane- I love diane- she's fabulous- she's is going to be there- in the background of scenes handing out what I think is great advice
Gennie- who's she?
Alex- is that the scouse kid? Is he still there?
Jai- he's married to Charity now so he'll definitely appear in some of her scenes
Great job Wildy, unfortunately, I think ur predictions are v close to the truth:(

I'm looking forward to seeing Danny Miller next week, just to see what he will tell us are his upcoming projects, which they always ask. I'm guessing patient on Casualty or Holby City, which is where most of them end up since The Bill finished. But who knows, maybe he's giving his Hamlet for the RSC.
Im loving Emmerdale at the moment. I had been starting to wane earlier in the year but Im back on board.
I think the Ashley and Sandy storyline is brilliant and its great that a soap is tackling this issue. It has the potential to be a winner at the soap awards if it is handled correctly.
I dont think Zak has dementia. He is definately heading down the mental breakdown path. From his wives rape to him nearly killing his son it is the combination of over a years worth of stress finally taken its toil.
Reading some of the epically long posts here and Im really surprised how much people are not enjoying Emmerdale at the moment. Different strokes for different folks I suppose
Looking forward to Aarons exit storyline. I presume he is going to take the rap for the fire and do a runner from the country, bit like when Cain took the rap for Alice dying and fled.
Despite what a lot of people say here I think Danny Miller is going to have a good career. He is a cracking actor.
Im very confidant that Emmerdale is going to have a good year.
Quite. And how does the blind woman do it? How is the blind woman running her own MAKE UP business?? How is she sorting out the coloured lipsticks and face powders??
Actually, if there'd been a spare psychiatrist knocking around Emmerdale last night, there'd have been plenty of work for him/her - there's Zak for starters, that silly lad Ed who clearly doesn't know his own worth and is willing to hang around in pubs waiting for someone who clearly has no interest in him, St Aaron the Martyr - always looking to take the blame for something - St Rachel the Misunderstood who should change her name to Cassandra since nobody ever believes her - St Laurel the Outraged and St Marlon the Would-be Adulterer - Oh - all of them! Someone ought to just throw a high wall topped with glass shards around the village and rechristen it 'The Emmerdale Secure Hospital for the Criminally and Morally Insane'!
That is so funny Aida, but true. It has become a joke really. What are TPTB trying to do?
Just had a thought, if Ali can't read how does she pack the sweeties in the world's smallest factory? How can she tell the hard centres from the soft? Does she take a surreptitious bite out of each one, or does she just poke her finger in the middle? My money's on the former.:D
TJBantam, love the Sean ditty.:)
Count me in on the Sandy team. I think he is wonderful, big booming voice and all. He is a kid's dream of a grandad, joining in all their activities. Hope they don't kill him off. Ashley has just been written so badly I find myself hissing at him like some panto villain in his scenes with Sandy.
My take on the Zac fiasco is the writers had this big lightbulb moment: "Hey lets do an Altzehmers s/l, about whom? Oh don't worry about that, we'll just take a random, long time regular and just mould them into the s/l. Who will it be? Who cares. anyone will do, how about Zac, you know, give him something to do."
Then
"Ooops the natives on the DS boards are getting restless, I think we have been sussed out. Not Altzheimer's but how about a breakdown or a brain tumour, or even a kidney infection, that can sometimes make you hallucinate. No, no, I've got it, how about GUILTY CONSCIENCE?, No one will ever guess that "
There we are, job done, lets go down the pub.
Laughing - well, they could always go down the physical disorder route - they could plump for a brain tumour which is always a soap favourite - or - if they get as far as the 'P's in their medical dictionary, they could choose something exotic and rare like pheochromacytoma!
You do make me laugh Aida, it's good to know that we have a knowledgeable medical person on this thread, it's a shame that ED writers don't use professionals to research their SL's
I'm sure they do use professionals, Tink - and I suppose they (the scriptwriters/storyliners) have to be allowed a certain amount of artistic licence, but it would be nice if they actually used all of the professional advice given instead of picking and choosing bits to 'fit' - and if they could only stay within the bounds of reality!

I can see him now, OJ - hoodie up, trackie bottoms tucked into his boots, surly expression, spitting out, "Do one!" to poor Ophelia!
One can only hope he doesn't get carried away and remark, while musing on Yorick's skull, "I knew him, Horatio - this was wot 'e won-tid!"

The ratings for the past week and a half make for interesting reading.
Since last Monday
Monday - 7.55m
Tuesday - 6.85m
Wednesday - 6.71m
Thursday - 6.95m and 7.35m
Friday - 6.53m
Monday - 6.55m
Tuesday - 6.14m
Wednesday - 6.07m
A peak for the fire on Thursday. But from a promising start of over 7 million, the ratings continue to drop. I expect something might be pulled out of the bag tonight for the two episodes, but it'll be interesting to see if this trend continues.
Despite the expected increase for last nights double bill, the ratings still continue to drop.
Last Thursday was 6.95m and 7.35m
Last night was 6.23m and 7m.
Slightly worrying considering these aren't random filler plots. These are the star cast members in some big storylines.
I have only just watched the episode on +1 and I can't remember much about it, I know that I am fed up with Jimmy's bits, Adam shouting, everyone talking as if Aaron & Ed have been together for ages.Yes, the Spencers are thick but Rachel expecting Social Services to tell her what's happening is stupid beyond stupid. Can't wait for next Thursday. Oh while I am on a rant, where were the pristine coats and hats when Slugden ordered them in to strip carcasses?

Yes I wondered the same Tinkie. Standards seem to be slipping now that John is not in charge of the processing!

They could probably argue that the weather has been unseasonably fantastic over the past week which has kept a lot of people off their sofas. I haven't watched any of the episodes "live" this week but it also wouldn't be surprising if the generally heavy nature of the storylines being run at the moment could be contributing to the downward trajectory of the ratings. They really need to find a way to temper the doom and gloom and while they're clearly trying with Jimmy and Nicola, it just feels a bit tired. Similarly characters who might provide some lighter moments seem to be largely sidelined or completely neglected. Last night's episode was one long dose of misery and as undoubtedly worthy as some of the storylines are, when run together with little relief, it makes for bleak viewing and that could well be proving a major turn-off. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks. The Easter hoildays are likely to have a further impact so they may well need another stunt up their sleeve to pull things back.

I agree it was so miserable last night I couldn't be bothered to comment
:D:D:D I for one would pay good money to see that!
D'Oh! It would have been better if I'd checked the post properly before I hit 'submit' - then I'd have noticed that I missed the best bit out - it should have read:-
"Alas, poor Jackson
I knew him, Horatio,
this is wot 'e won-tid!"

Some excellent points, TT - I'm quite interested to see if there is a noticeable drop in viewer numbers when the Golden Weeper departs!
He may not be a popular character on this particular thread, but it can't be denied that that he has a substantial following of fans, many of whom might depart when he is no longer a villager.
I'm not finding the Jimmy/Nico situation remotely funny - but that's probably just me - I'm old-fashioned enough to actually care for my husband too much to treat him with such contemptuous scorn, nor would I have ever tried to bully/emotionally blackmail him into making what, for many men, is a difficult decision without exploring other methods of birth control which are available.
The only 'good' part of this element has been the input of the matchless 'Edna' and the bantering mockery of Carl (Casanova) King!
Young Will Wylde is sitting in a tree talking about having an orgy. Kids.
To Telly Tot, yeah the weather might be an issue. In fact its a realistic possibility as much as I despise that defeatist attitude.
Bib: Erm - is that you, Zak?
Well, there wasn't much to write home about in tonight's eppy, was there?
The Rev. Jude was a decent and light-hearted addition - he's certainly come a long way since he was a porter in 'The Royal' - let's hope St Moron the Maudlin didn't witness him being kissed on the cheek by that village femme fatale, Laurel, or he'll be on the roof at Wishing Well again, threatening suicide!
I was about to get annoyed with Nikhil and his obvious reluctance to tear his eyes from the lovely Alicia keeping herself fit until I noticed that the hubba had stopped stuffing fish and chips into himself like a starving refugee and was staring at the screen in the kind of rapt manner usually reserved, by knights of old, for catching a glimpse of the Holy Grail!

Defeatist? Moi? Never! Hey, let's be positive, it'll probably be chucking it down next week, so peace will be restored to the kingdom...along with 7 million + viewers.;):)
Comments
No, not in the slightest
Thanks, I could never have worked that out in a million years

so so so LOL :D

According to them,
Wonder what it is, perhaps its a believeable storyline.
Though I think I might die of shock if that was the case
Birdcage, don't be embarrassed. I had to ask to find out what it meant!:)
what is he going to say about his plans for cain, val, brenda and eric on this morning?
I have often wondered myself, Birdcage!
That is so funny Aida, but true. It has become a joke really. What are TPTB trying to do?
I expect
Oh don't feel bad. I didn't have a clue. :eek::o

I'm the same - it's only a matter of months since I had to ask what BIB meant myself!
I can see him now, OJ - hoodie up, trackie bottoms tucked into his boots, surly expression, spitting out, "Do one!" to poor Ophelia!
