I find chimps fascinating, but mainly because of how similar they are to humans (our closest living relatives, and all that) rather than because I think they would make good pets.
For one thing I don't see how you could in any way "own" a chimp! If you had a chimp in your home, the chimp would probably think it owned you.
And it would be bizarre to think that you were related to your chimp through great-great-(repeat many times!)-great grandparents who lived just 6 million years ago, not really that long ago in the great scheme of things.
I feel the same way. It'd be so cool having a chimp around.
But then there's the risk to the animal and other stuff we need to consider.
Still...it'd be so cool.
Yeah obviously id not seriously get a chimp but its on my list of animals if I could get any, with no issues of looking after it, paying for it, natural habitat..... Id get a chimp.

When I was a kid quite a few people had monkeys and other such pets.
I remember once , my brother and I were walking down our road and heard a noise, looked up and see two chips on a roof fully dressed in children's clothes.
Another time, I was getting off the bus at the top of my road and stroked this lovely strange brown dog , and the lady said its not a dog its a bear
Even in the 80s I see a cage of spider monkeys in a pet shop.

I know people keep fish as pets, but not chips!!
I think it's cruel to dress chips up in clothes. They deserve more dignity. It's bad enough they way they are treated in fish & chip shops.
