Yep, about 15 mins ago. Rebecca Ferguson, Pixie Lott and someone called Laura.

I just missed that !........presumably they were the 3 girls in uniform on just as I flicked over but the song had finished

might look out for that on YouTube later

I agree it is very humbling. Having to endure being bombed must have been horrendous.

Everything about the war was horrendous. Nobody really imagines what it was like ....

    Darkness ......No road lights
No lights to be seen through windows so had blackout curtains.
No road signs, all were taken down so if the enemy kanded on our shores they wouldn't know their location.
Rationing of clothes and food ....... 2 oz of butter A WEEK!! ( I use that on a piece of toast!!)
Gas masks to be carried at all times.
Evacuation of schools from towns to establishments in the country
Youngsters got their papers, a train ticket and they were conscripted to an unknown destination and for an unknown duration.

THIS was austerity and it lasted for a long 6 years ........ we know nothing of austerity these days.

You are right, it is truly humbling.

Alfie keeps putting a rather irritating Elvis-esque twang on the end of lines.

He's got a few dodgy singing habits these days.

Am I being a bit thick ( and possibly insensitive here ) but surely Jane Horrocks was acting with her reading of the letter ? The tears at the end were part of it surely ? Either way it was so touchg

No, I don't think she was acting at all, she was just upset.

It would be nice to at least have a video message, probably the only way given her age.

She looked well on ITV news last night

I agree Stunty, although it it mainly people that haven't been through these hard times of the war that moan about the austerity cuts. Now me I would happily live like that, well with the modern twist if you know what I mean. But it wouldn't really bother me if I had to live they did during the war.

Does anyone remember that awful live concert the BBC put on awhile back when it poured with rain and was with I think Alex Jones as compare. I can't remember what it was for now, turned off half way through.

I like the way they have laid out the audience seats as though it is in the feel of a street party :D Very authentic :D

    Chas and dave reappearance.

This is nearly live, i take it. Looks about an hour or so delay, judging by the light fading.

I think people may have been happier, more friendly, and more thankful for what they had in those days, than we are now.
