I have recently bought a new PC (my old one gave up the ghost). I have been told that if i plug my iphone into the new PC the content will be erased when the phone tries to sync. I dont need to take the content off the phone onto I tunes, but is there a quick way of syncing the i phone to the new PC?

I don't know the full ins and outs of this, but from what I remember, you have 5 authorisations you can make on the Apple device. This means if your computer dies, and you reinstall Windows/get another computer, you will have to 'authorise' the device to that computer. Like I said, you only have 5 of these.

The way around this is to deauthorise the device from the machine, and then reauthorising it on a new machine. However, this isn't always possible, especially if the computer gives up the ghost!

You can deathorise ALL computers then reauthorise one by one.

iTunes is a bit dire under Windows. Much better on a Mac.

Don't want to turn this into another Mac vs Windows thread but I have to agree with this. On my old XP laptop it used to crash a lot but works great on my Mac.

    Let's correct that:

iTunes is a bit dire under Mac OS X. Much worse on Windows.

How is it dire on OSX?

It's such a bloated mess and is still written in Carbon rather than Cocoa.

Apple would reject it from the Mac App Store for that reason alone! It is also stopping the Application going 64-bit in line with Apple's other software

Apple took a piece of software designed by another company to rip CDs to MP3s and play those files back and has since added:

    - Support for approximately 22 different models of iPod
    - Support for Four models of iPhone
    - iTunes Store with ever growing list of features
    - Video Support
    - Podcasting
    - A complex DRM system
    - The App Store
    - Ringtones
    - Genius
    - Ping

... and that's just a few of the things they've added!

All of them without rewriting the Application.

The Windows version sucks because of the way it was ported to Windows (they pretty much ported Carbon to Windows - and not particularly well at that).
